No sound of I-16 being hit when fired upon from head on

When being fired at from head on in multiplayer, there is no sound of the bullets striking. 

 

The engine just starts spluttering which is the only indication of being hit.

I tried removing the module and redownloading  with no change.

I can confirm this. I was chasing a 109 and apparently another one snuck up behind me a took a shot. I did not realize I was hit until after I splashed the bandit and saw punctured wing.
