F-86 Outremer Campaign - Runway lights

I just finished this campaign and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was sweating bullets at the beginning of each mission. 

 

I have just one question: 

 

We are directed to maintain radio silence and it seems that our coms menu is disabled while flying. A few of these missions end after sundown which makes it super difficult to find the runways. I ended up using my radio compass and lining up to the blue taxi lights next to the runway. Once I touchdown, the runway lights are turned on but that doesn't help. Does anyone know how to trigger the runway lighting to be turned on before I land?

Can't remember, but I believe I always called the airfield pre-landing, and the lights were turned on.
Didn't finish the Sabre one yet, only F-5 and Su-25T.

Roger that. For some reason, I wasn't able to pull up the coms menu while airborne. It might be user error. Thanks for you reply!

Come to think of it. I use VAICOMPRO plugin for VoiceAttack, so I don't use the communications menu.
Wild guess, have you doubled checked that you use RAlt+\ and not only \ while in air?

I totally agree.
And it's also a lot of fun to fly it with different airframes.
