markturner1960 Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 Hi, so I recently got a new sim PC and am having some issues. I have installed VA from steam ( where I purchased it) - I can see it there in programfiles x86/steam/steamapps....etc When I try and run the Vaicom installer package, it says "warning, voice attack not installed on this machine, do I want to download it" If I click no, the install just stops. Any ideas? Thanks System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

markturner1960 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 Thanks! so what about the steam version then? what happens to that? Also, will I need to go through the whole rigmarole of speech recognition learning again? is there any way to copy a file over from the old PC, with all my settings etc ? Or do I need to start the whole damn process from scratch........? System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

The Steam version never had its own installer IIRC, so I would guess you did it manually the last time as well.Anyway, should be perfectly described one the manual, but you basically unzip and copy the VAICOM folder to the app/plugin folder in VoiceAttack.I have read somewhere today there are tools for transferring MS Speech Recognition stuff, to a new computer, but I have never heard of any successful attempt on Win10.So if I were you, I'd just skip the whole hazzle of finding out if it works or not, and just re-do the training, but the files for both the training and the dictionary are in the MS Speech folder in Appdata. Roaming IIRC.And I've heard people have successfully just copied it over to the new rig.Hopefully this helps! Cheers! markturner1960 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 Cheers Max, I will have to bite the bullet then......should I uninstall the steam version then? When you get the app in steam, steam installs it or rather you do, by pressing "install game" once you have brought it in the steam GUI. System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

Give me an hour and I'll be home and provide you with some screens. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk

I don't use Steam, but understand that others who have bought the Steam version of VoiceAttack have used it successfully to run VAICOM PRO. The key is to do a manual install (using the ZIP file download) of VAICOM PRO (not VoiceAttack) into the location where Steam put VoiceAttack. That might have been less clear in the earlier posts. So you shouldn't have to repurchase VoiceAttack. 1 I'm Softball on Multiplayer. markturner1960 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 OK thanks, look forward to the screenies Max. I know it works using the steam version, as thats how it was on old PC. However I never had this issue when installing it on that one....go figure.... MAXsenna Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 @markturner1960 Okidoki! You have Steam VoiceAttack, so the path should be like this: So go to https://www.vaicompro.com/downloads.html Download latest and unzip/open And copy the whole folder into the VoiceAttack/Apps folder Restart VoiceAttack BTW!!!! Make sure you've enabled Plugins in VA. VAICOM will make some additional folders, and you can import the VAICOM profile, LCtrl-LAlt-C, and you can enter your keycodes. Let's start there. Oki?
MAXsenna Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I assume you made it work Mark, I'll have my second jab tomorrow, and I got real sick last time, but I'll check here from time to time tomorrow though. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk

markturner1960 Posted August 20, 2021 Author Posted August 20, 2021 Hi Max, got as far as importing the profile, but cant find the profile to import....? there are only 3 files in the VAICOMPRO folder in VoiceAttack/Apps, documentaion folder, an EULA and VAICOMPRO.dll. Where else should I be looking for the profile please? System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

Where else should I be looking for the profile please? I hate to say it but RTFM. The "Quick Setup Guide" describes the next steps. Other files are created only after you launch VoiceAttack and configure the VoiceAttack settings. In particular, once you have VoiceAttack running with the VAICOM PRO DLL loaded (which requires you to first enable plugins in VoiceAttack) then the plugin will create the other files, including the profile that you need to import. 1 I'm Softball on Multiplayer. markturner1960 Posted August 21, 2021 Author Posted August 21, 2021 (edited) Thanks, but I was posting after having RTFM ( am not that much of a newb...)and had got to the point where I describe and there was no profile folder for me to find......I have followed the instrcutions precisely. I discovered the manual is wrong, it says restart voiceattck after the profile is imported. I had to restart and only then did the sub folders appear enabling me to import the profile. Someone may want to look into or note that for future reference. Someone may want to look into or note that for future reference. I just checked the manual and I see no such instructions. According to the quick setup guide the initial steps are: Make sure VoiceAttack runs as administrator and plugin support is enabled. Download the plugin installation file and unzip it to the apps directory. Launch VoiceAttack and configure VoiceAttack settings. Check DCS options. "Next, import the profile" Assign HOTAS buttons in the profile So you definitely need to restart VoiceAttack after installing the plugin but before importing the profile. In any event, hope you have it sorted now. 1 I'm Softball on Multiplayer. I was following the detailed instrcutions, not the quick start, check on page 9 above the screen grab and you will see it clearly says import the profile then restart the program..... Anyway, as you say, I have it working. Thanks. Well, I say that, but its not fully operational and seemed to stop my SRS working , so I am looking into that currently. But I am past the hurdle I posted about..... 1 System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

But I am past the hurdle I posted about..... I see what you mean now. The problem occurs if you did not have plugin support already enabled prior to starting VoiceAttack to configure it as on page 7. If not then the plugin doesn't get run until you restart VoiceAttack, but you need it to run to create the profile. So there should be another "restart VoiceAttack" at the end of the Configure VoiceAttack Options" section to make sure that the plugin gets run at least once before you try to import the profile. I don't have any conflicts with SRS. What are your symptoms there? FWIW, in my export.lua file (in Saved Games\dcs.openbeta\Scripts) the lines for initializing SRS come last, after the lines initializing TacView and Vaicom. Possibly you have those reversed if you installed SRS first. You might try switching them to see if it fixes your issue. 1 I'm Softball on Multiplayer.
