Paladin1cd Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Does anyone happen to know if you can knock out the lights to a city on any of the maps? Or turn them off through scripting or something? Mostly wondering if players can bomb the electrical system and have it impact the lights in a city? 1
Gumbie Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Would be cool if a person could do this, a person could set up Dynamic Campaigns and have missions to knock out things like power stations, Ammo Depos, and other things that could effect the out come of battles. Sure your not the first to think of this but great question and ideal. 1

AFAIK, night lighting is baked into the night ground texture, i.e. it's not really cast by light sources, just bright looking pixels painted on the ground (as this greatly improves performance, no light source calculations at all). So it's currently not possible to selectively turn 'off' these lights. It may be possible (if you had access to the render settings of the terrain's mesh) to switch some polygon's textures to daytime (no lighting) and thus simulate a blackout. But that would likely look weird and artificial, not natural at all. Edited September 9, 2021 by cfrag 1
Paladin1cd Posted September 10, 2021 Author Posted September 10, 2021 Cfrag thanks that’s what I was curious about. Darned shame but I understand why. Thanks!
buur Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 If you want to fly on a dark map set the datum to a time during second world war. Then the city lightning is off.
