I have a simple server at the moment, just a 3.4 gighz quad core phenom2 16 gigs of ram. I know it can run a server but doubt anything complex. I am looking to upgrade and found this server for sale. It's a dual xeon 2.4 8 core processor. Now I don't know much about xeon other than it's used alot for servers. It's only 400 bucks Canadian. Would this thing be any better than what I have already. Thanks for any info.

HP ProLiant DL360p Gen 8 - 48gb ram - 2x8 - 2x16 - 860evo ssd 1tb - has digitally registered copy of windows - 850evo sss 500gb - has digitally registered copy of windows - CPU’s are shown in the photo’s - Looks like it even has a gpu slot, but can’t be certain.

No need for GPU for the server and DCS is currently single core. We're eagerly waiting for multi threading, so it might do you some good in the future.
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, The gpu thing was part of the advertisement. I know I don't need a gpu other than the on board one. What I'm trying to figure out is if the 3.4 xeon cpu and mother board is worth the 400 bucks.  Also found a Intel Xeon E3-1240 v2 @3.40 GHz, Quad Core with Hyperthreading for 200 bucks, 16 gigs of ram. But I don't know if its really better than what I already have. The one I have now is an amd athlon II X3 3.30 ghz 4 core.

Ah, seems I misread. For know you'd want the fastest you can get. Don't think 2.4 will really cut it as of now. Haven't tested running DCS on any of my servers (all Xeons) yet, as they're all in storage. Now, this might change when multithreading is implemented. You'd also want more RAM than 16GB I suppose.
