Have a few controllers that I want to setup for DCS (including a VirPil stick, rudder pedals and a throttle)- just wondering

1)the best way to set them up (or if someone can direct me to a guide?) - assuming its best to setup each controller for each individual aircraft and save the profile or is there a generic setup you can use for all aircraft?(if yes how would you set this up)

2)also when I am in say the Virpil stick setup section for the F18 when I complete the assignment and save the profile is this just saving the profile for the stick or all controllers for the F18 sim section? and does the sim always use(load up) this profile when your flying the F18 or do you need to load it up every new game?

any help appreciated......

There is an application called JoyPro (https://github.com/Holdi601/JoystickProfiler) . Didn't try it myself, but it's on my todo list. Seems that with this software you setup your controller outside from DCS and export it to the saved game folder. The benefit is, that you can bind a control to multiple modules (aircrafts).

For example, keyboard key g is for gear up/down, you bind it in JoyPro and than you can use it in F16, A10, FA18 without setting it up for every single aircraft. Here is a thread in this forum and on the github page is a link to his youtube tutorial series.

I Recommend giving JoyPro a try as well!  I just upgraded my 8 Year Old Mother Board and CPU... to AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. Net result was all my "Saved" Controller Bindings need to be recalled back for each plane and saved again...

As a result I started the learning curve of watching all the YouTube Videos posted by Holdi601 and others.

Just take it step by step don't be afraid to play with setups and get comfortable doing things like Refresh DCS ID DB and Refresh DCS Clean DB etc.  If all goes sideways you can always go back to default DCS key binds setups .. .. there is a video for that too..   Cheers.

1)Thanks going to give joypro a try......

2)Also more generally struggling to understand how the bindings process works in DCS! - created a binding for my Virpil stick and then I proceed to save the profile (note I make sure I have the column for the Virpil stick highlighted when I do this) - however next time I play DCS I seem to loose all the bindings I had just created and even more bizarrely when I then go to load up the profile I had just created it does not seem to have captured all the binding I just created - what am I doing wrong here or is the binding function broken for DCS?
