Boosterdog Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Hello, Ive installed a new MSI tomahawk MB and Ryzen 5600X. The thing is (now)running stock save for the XMP profile for the RAM which is Gskill Trident Neo double ranked B dye whatnot certified to run on the MB. After a first frustrating night of devices randomly switching off and audio crackling and popping Ive upgraded to the bios that purportedly fixes both issues. Whilst the disconnecting devices seem more stable the audio remains shocking. After one of two minutes in game the crackles and pops begin with distorted audio and a constant buzz. I can reset the audio and it works fine for a period then does the same. Ive tried the headphones in another PC and all is fine. If I switch the audio to the TV via its HDMI, all is fine. It appears to be a USB thing (ive tried different ports) Im relucant to RMA at this point and can likely find alternative solutions is there remains an issue (and the devices stay connected) but Im wondering if anyone else had the same issue and if they have succesfully solved it. The PSU is a new 850 watt unit and all the hardware monitoring shows it working fine. Boosterdog Posted November 9, 2021 Author Posted November 9, 2021 Seems the answer is to use a common or garden USB hub over the USB ports on the MB itself. Anyhow sorry for posting then answering my own question. Jumbik Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 I suppose it will have to be powered usb hub also? Had similar issue on Intel platform few years back with Hotas and had to use powered extension card (or hub in your case). Do, or do not, there is no try. -------------------------------------------------------- Sapphire Nitro+ Rx Vega 64, i7 4790K ... etc. etc.

Its a regular £2 4 porter USB 2.0 slot plate extension card (sorry not a hub) - one that slots into the rear of the PC and plugs onto the MB via two headers. I did read somewhere abut the X570 boards needing some driver to power phones but cannot find it again. The track IR works fine so I assume some power is there if needed. The warthog however did occiasionally disconnect when plugged directly into the ports of the MB so thats also going to be tried the old card as well now.
