dokken1212 Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 (edited) Hi folks Wondering if anyone can help please. I have just bought a 49" 120Mhz ultrawide 5120x1440 monitor. My system is a Ryzen 9 3900X, RTX 2080 Super with 32GB 3600Mhz Ram and DCS runs on an M.2 drive. Now I appreciate this is not the most powerful system in the world but does anyone have a similar setup or knowledge of how this will fare running DCS with this monitor? I was going to buy a 43" ultrawide at 3840 x 1080 however I went with the higher resolution to 'future proof' the monitor a little more knowing I was going to be pushing my current system harder but plan is to upgrade the GPU later (cant get an upgraded GPU for love nor money at the moment!!!). Also, with the monitor am I able to lower the resolution to say 3840 x 1080 or similar to increase FPS or would that just look terrible? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance for any comments and suggestions Edited January 27, 2022 by dokken1212 Computer Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 3900x Thermaltake 360 AIO Water Cooler 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3600Mhz RGB RAM GeForce RTX 2080 Super [ NVIDIA] 512GB Adata M2 NVME (boot drive) 1TB Adata M2 NVME 1TB WD Blue SSD Corsair RM850x Power Supply Phanteks Enthoo Evolve Case Samsung 43" 4K Smart TV (used as monitor) TRACK IR 5 + Wireless DelanClip Head Tracker Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS :pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly:
gordonvembu Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 i've been using the asus rog 32:10 43" monitor for a year now. i have similar pc specs to you, and even with everything maxxed out including the mod that adds ultimate and insane levels to visibility range, my FPS never drops below 80. i do run at 3840x1200p. 1
Caldera Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) Dokken, You can read through this thread, I was wondering about the same things as you do. My 32 inch main monitor can run at 3440x1440 @ 144Hz. For DCS. my overall resolution, with two screens is 2560x1848 (2560x1080 + 1366x768). I run at 2560x1080 on the main screen for fidelity vs FPS reasons. I find the display to look "good enough" while maintaining around 60 FPS. I have to really look to find differences between 2560x1080 and 3440x1440, but you can see them. With the higher resolution, for less demanding games, you will love this monitor. I am also pretty sure that DCS will whittle your FPS down close to single digit numbers at times with any more than just a couple of settings above the lowest possible. I believe that it also possible to run DCS at, for example, 3440x1440 even the your monitor is capable of 5120x1440. You would have to edit the MonitorSetup file to get DCS to center on your display. This would not fill display and you would have borders on the sides. Caldera Edited January 20, 2022 by Caldera 1
