mdimech Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 I've been trying to set up the left thumb wheel on the throttle to zoom in and zoom out (I primarily play with VR) and I cant get the setting to stick. I know I'm missing something. In fact I'm not even sure which setting it is exactly ...as there are so many zoom settings in the options. Anything topoint me in the right direction would be appreciated.
icetbag Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 On the drop down menu at the top left in controls you're looking for "UI Layer", there is a zoom function in there that works in VR.
Sprool Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Mines set up in the joystick profiler to spit out the default key presses to zoom in and out ('/', '*') - works a treat across every airframe
NBee Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I use this setting on my X56. Under “Axis command” for your desired Aircraft Use Zoom View and designate your wheel on the throttle to this command. See attached picture. This works for me,
Sprool Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 (edited) I have the x52 and find the pots so crap if i assign an axis to zoom it will not stay fixed, it keeps juddering the zoom in and out all the time Edited February 21, 2022 by Sprool
edmuss Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 VR zoom isn't directly bindable to an axis in DCS although I believe that it can be programmed in with third party software. You need the commands "Toggle VR zoom" and "Toggle VR Spyglass Zoom", these are found in the UI layer. VR zoom is like leaning forwards about a foot and can help with reading smaller instruments/cockpit labels, spyglass zoom is like a telescope and is useful for spotting but not a great deal else as it introduces quite a lot of parallax swimming of the view in the headset.
