CPG in co-op with KB/mouse/Xbox controller and no head tracking

I have a VKB Gunfighter/TWCS with nyogel/OpenTrack tracker. I'm fairly competent at flying aircraft and copters.

The only real hope I have of a coop partner is my dad who I normally play FPS with (Ready or Not currently) but I'd really like to get the Apache. He fancies giving it a go too.

We will use the trial when it becomes available but realistically, is it possible to KB and Mouse (or maybe xbox pad) as CPG and be effective?

He's 71 now and is familiar with looking around and cockpit control manipulation due to train simulators so it won't be completely alien to him (he has gamed for 35 years) but he won't be getting custom hardware.

What's the general consensus?

Thanks.

I think XBox controller, KB, mouse, and head tracker is the killer combination for CPG.

It can be done without the head tracker, but then you are constantly toggling the mouse back and forth between free-look mode and clickable mode to manipulate the MPDs.

I have a button on the controller to lock to a snap view of my head down looking at the TEDAC almost full screen. Tap it again and I’m back looking around outside the helo.

If you fly solo and do most of your CPG stuff with George holding a hover, you can get by without the head tracker a little more, but if you have an active PLT flying around you really need your head to be on a swivel to keep track of what’s happening on the ground.
