VIRPIL Hardware and Voicemeeter Macros

Has anyone here tried to map a VIRPIL control button to a Voicemeeter Banana macro button? I have attempted to use the HID configuration tool in the macro button settings, and the HID tool can see my VIRPIL hardware, as well as the button press, but it will not activate the specific macro button.

Has anyone had any success with this? 

Long version: I have a button on my VIRPIL collective that is my PTT for Discord. I am trying to map that same button to also activate the mute in Voicemeeter so that my Discord conversation isn't recorded on video or stream. I've confirmed that the mute macro button works to mute the mic to OBS while allowing it to transmit in Discord, but trying to get the macro mapped to a button is not working.
