Buying Lock On Gold used?

Is it safe to buy lock on gold used via ebay or some other method? I've been trying like crazy to get ahold of LOMAC FC but, decided I might as well get LO:Gold and have both on one disc. I didn't know if a used product might have issues registering or copy protection that wouldn't allow it to work.
