AlpineGTA Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 It has it's flaws but I really like my T16000M throttle. I'm not a fan of the arching movement of the more expensive throttles, such as the Warthog, Virpil, WinWing etc, I prefer the sliding action of the T16000M, it keeps all the hats and switches in the same place, or on the same plane/level. For me, that's more comfortable and it makes it easier to feel where everything is in VR. In it's price range, I think it's probably the best throttle out there. The only problem is, I wish the throttles were split and it had some switches and buttons on the base like the more expensive ones. I think Thrustmaster are missing a trick by not making a modified version that includes these features. They've recently launched General Aviation replica Airbus and Boeing throttles that have these features, at a similar price, so I'm sure it's within their capability to make an upgraded T16000M within the same price range. It would probably be the best mid-range throttle on the market. I know I'd snap one up. Anyone else had similar thoughts? 1 i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2
Drakoz Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 There is merit to saying that the TWCS (T.16000M) throttle is the best throttle in its price range, and that would absolutely be true if it was a dual throttle. I often recommend the TWCS throttle to people because of features for the price, but I stop short on that recommendation because it is only a single throttle. So it doesn't work for many applications. The other major issue with it is the stiction, but for the price, for those who can't afford a $300-$400 throttle, the TWCS is a good alternative. I would love it is Thrustmaster made a dual throttle version of the TWCS, but I don't expect it to happen. I also love the TCA Airbus and TCA Boeing Throttles. They have hall effect sensors, good feel to their movement (stiction free, with adjustable friction), better build quality than the TWCS, but they lack the buttons to make them useful for a HOTAS application like what you would use a Warthog Throttle or TWCS. So they too are hard to recommend for serious HOTAS applications. FYI, another good inexpensive option for a decent throttle with lots of buttons (and horizontal movement, not pendulating movement) is the CH Pro Throttle. But again, it is only one throttle, not dual throttle. 1
AlpineGTA Posted May 6, 2022 Author Posted May 6, 2022 Yes, I agree with your points. There's a gap in the market for a TWCS HOTAS type dual horizontal throttle with some buttons, but I agree with you, unfortunately I don't think Thrustmaster will ever make it. The TWCS sells so well anyway I suppose it makes no business sense for them to spend the time and money re-engineering it only to sell it at a similar price. i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2
Drakoz Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Yes, if they did it, the "TWCS Dual throttle" would be more expensive of course. A TWCS can be bought for about $130, similar to the TCA Airbus and TCA Boeing throttles which have fewer and less complex buttons. I wouldn't be surprised if a Dual TWCS throttle had a price in the range of $150-$180 or maybe more. It is a little too far out of the cheap territory at that price.
