Situation

As the front line is pushed deeper into Syria we must continue to strike at vital infrastructure. Targets such as Palmyra are now easily within our reach. Given the heavy defenses of western Syria, attacks through the eastern desert will continue.

Briefing

Viper 1 you will be part of strike package Echo. Echo is tasked with destroying a storage facility on the outskirts of the city of Palmyra in central Syria. You will fly fighter sweep and protect the strike forces from enemy fighters. There are two strike groups in the package, Uzi 1 and Colt 1. Your primary goal is to get both groups to the target area. However, the mission will be considered a partial success if only one group survives.

The target area is likely defended by SAM's and so you will have SEAD cover as part of Echo. You will also pass Tabqa airbase on the way in and out, but this airfield has been disabled and is not a major threat.

We have not detected enemy CAP activity over the area, but numerous airbases are nearby, including one at Palmyra itself. Enemy response is most likely to come from West and South of bullseye. Be advised that not only are Syrian MiG-21/23/29 operating the area, but also Russian Fulcrums and Flankers with more advanced sensors and weapons. AWACS support is not available, be on your guard.

Due to heavy air defense in west Syria the route to the target will not be direct. You will fly east over Turkey before heading south to cross the border. You are heavily advised to remain east of bullseye while in Syria. Upon returning to friendly airspace, tankers will be available if needed.
