xell Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 My god. This is a tough simulator. I was going at a mission in the deployment campagin. I was suppose to take out some SAM/AAA at a compound so my Hinds could take out everything else. My third try through the mission and i am getting the hang of the flying - again. I also just found out the R key (thank you search function @forum :) ). Well, i have an idea how i should do it this time so i manage to get the copter to stop at the ingress point, and starting to find the targets i want to hit. I make sure the turn to target is on and i start to plonk some enemy. Then my friends, the Hinds, are reporting something - i think they want me to join in, so i join in with the cannon... And this is where the stuff gets ugly. a) Autohover - On. b) Altiutude - On (if a is on, b is on!) c) Turn to target. And - Ta-da-da - in goes the cavellry, trying to lock on with the shkval, trying to compensate for the strange feeling of the flight of the copter and making sure i have the trim button in. It was a wonder i hit anything, and it was a wonder i didn't slam into my wingmate. Next time i charge into the battlezone i will make sure i do not have a-b-c turned on. This copter is a handful as it is. :) Despite my rookie misstake i started to heading home - eeek - home. NOT back to the start! :) So i had to turn around getting to the correct farp and when trying to land, the farp didn't have four empty spaces, only two. The other was occupied with two hinds. Ah - a successfull mission was on the virge on going bad. I struggled five minutes trying to land the thing. And the mental note i made when landing was - "Ah, the brakes... i haven't mapped the brakes" - something i usally forget about after every landing. I mean who needs the brakes? My o my. Is this work or pleasure, i don't know. This mission i think i fought everything i could - the copter, the mountains, the autopilots and the enemy. Atleast i got a successful mission. Wonder if it wouldn't be better if i got shot down and the military had the chance to hire some competence! --- :) Loving it!!
RedRiver Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Nice story. I feel the same sometimes, fighting everything. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] We are looking for members! http://www.masterarms.se
MiG-77 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 If you ever doubt that controlling helicopter is imbosible watch musicflight track. That is some amazing flying... I think I can do same after couple of decades...
