  1. There is a possibility to have a server-client setup with touch-buddy. I did use that system with a laptop (without touchscreen) some time ago while playing lockon. http://www.touch-buddy.com/forums/faq/11-running-tb-gaming-dualscreen-seperate-system.html
  2. I am started with that myself today! :) I hadn't opened the mission editor before you wrote that i should look at the goal, and now i can just enjoy the flight without being frustrated! (Albeit only two mission flown so far... but its more enjoyable this way).
  3. Well if i understand that mission editor correctly the briefing for that mission is completly off. You are suppose to take out everything with wheels including stuff thats outside designated target area - and described in the briefing? I think i feel more confused now then when i am trying the mission.
  4. I have tried this mission several times and never got passed the 50% completion. I take out all targets in the target area, the tanks, the mlrs and god knows what. Any hints. I read the AAR posted at simhq in hope it would reveal some hints how to beat it but not. It was a good read though! :)
  5. In this thread there is everything you need to know. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32630&page=21 If you are running vista, the best bet to get it working is by not using fullscreen.
  6. To ease your pain Husko, just remember to retrieve the activation if you decide to install it elsewhere. You can deinstall, reinstall on the same computer unless you don't change anything drastic. You can change ram, or video card without a new activation. If you want to know more about it read here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568704&postcount=3 If you do not want to loose an activation you need to deactivate the game an then deinstall it. (And you got your 7 activation). If your computer is exploding in a cascading fire event (very common ;) ) and is destroyed you only have 6 activation left. (Okey, perhaps a more common happening is theft or similar) If your hardrive dies and you have to replace the hardrive and upgrade Windows, you do not need to re-activate (you only reach 9 points if you keep your old name - 12 points if you change it). So i say, Black Shark is most forgiving in this activation schemes. But to each is own! I just love to not have to be bothered with dvd discs... And for the OP. -- if you use credit card online. The safest way is to use special e-cards. Then the only thing that can get lost is that particular card used for that particular purchase and they usually are time limited with a very low credit limit - that you decide!
  7. Woah, my EECH disks arrived to me in sweden today from my amazon.co.uk buy. Cost me £9 including shipment. Never owned this game when it was released, but this hind thing (and the apache cockpit) made me get it! ;) It's all arneh's fault! :) And no, it won't as you probably already found out, not install over EEAH!
  8. 486DX2 - first pc. Then I am just to old! I was gaming along on a 286 8Mhz with a Hercules card flying flight simulator with a mouse - and 2ms screen was a looong way from realization. Ghosting - anyone? :) But before that i tried my hands on flight simulation on my Spectrum 48k. Hm, how long hasn't we come since my first attempt to land with the rubber keyboard. I even program my own flightsim on my MSX 738 consisting of a bar that could go up and down and "bank" and with object comming faster to me if i pressed "throttle". Hm... good thing i never continued with that. The Orchid 3D card and flightsims was such a eye opener. Remember the transition from longbow to longbow 2. I could never really stop beeing in awe how fluid the game became and using hotas was such a dream. But as the OP wrote. I smiled when i first saw the ABRIS boot screen. Its such a nice touch to include. Btw, one reason to upgrade from my 386DX40 i had to a 486DX33 was Strike Commander - and the reason for going to a DX2 was - strike commander. The reason for getting more mem (going from 64MB-128MB) years later was Falcon4. I have to face the fact. the F16 and my addiction for flightsims has cost me more in hardware upgrade then anything else. (looking at my hotas, my rudders, three screens and track-ir). Whats next? <sorry for making it about my own rememberence - but i am getting old so i am allowed to ramble> :-)
  9. I think i am slowly on my way to "master" this. :) One thing i did wrong in the beginning. I was obsessed with the autopilot mode. The fixation of using Autohover is what got me killed most of the time when i tried to fight the chopter wanting to keep me in place. But one advise to everybody trying to master this is an advice read here but i mostly overlooked cause i thought he was crazy! :) Learn to fly the chopter. Really fly it. I now never use the autohover or turn into target cause the fixation on getting the hang of these made me forget how to fly the thing. I can now fly on a fixed altitude providing aircover for my assets and i can dutch the sams and take evasive maneuvers without the need to disable the hover, altitude and god knows what. And somebody also wrote how to be able to make quick turns without risking problem! LOWER THE COLLECTIVE before the maneuver and peak on you VSI constantly so you keep it level (if thats what you intend to do!) Something i am also using alot is a zoom in function view from cockpit. It complements my Track IR nicley and I have a rotary on my hotas assigned to that function. I use that to mimic a binoucular i phantom is available to the pilot. It really help you find those pesky targets! :) Reading your post manrammer i see myself the fighting everything but the enemy. If i knew then what i now know i guess it would have been easier! I think the posts and direction how to master the autopilot and trimming just made me think it was difficult and hard to master. It isn't. Now i feel when i need to trim. When i have to fight the the cyclic or rudder to keep it where i want i push the trim button and voila i am centered and ready to go.
  10. About what you need to complete the missions. Its the transports vehicles and the MLRS you have to destroy. I also destroyed the BTRs i think on the "left" since they shot at me. However, i think me and my gang managed to destroy everything on site when i was finish. Once every AAA threat was gone it was a shooting gallery which i happily used to train my gun skill. Oh, the mission complete i got was on egress out the same way i got in (approx around the peak). Did you fly the shortest way out or backtrack your flight plan? Dont know if makes any difference. I flew this mission 5 times before i finished it! :)
  11. I think the producers note was the best help getting the understanding. The manual isn't anything you read from cover to cover cause you forget everything you need. The reference material is something you need once you learn how to fly, but the problem to learn to fly is your own. I put in the wish list a manual in parity with Tornado (who hasn't read the weapons deployment guides to the death?) and Falcon4 training material. Someone said the manual would be to big to include all this, but i disagree. Much of the material should be reorganized and some stuff placed in better chaptes. Some chapters concearning some dials i feel contains information about how to use them, some don't so you really at lost. And i also think the keysstrooks should be grouped into Navigation, Weapons instead of the cryptic INS, ABRIS... when first read the keycard i was lost. I needed to learn flying by the producers notes. Revisiting the manual, revisiting the keycard. It felt many times as a moment 22. Now when feeling much more competent in flying i feel the manual is sufficient. But, not as a newbie. The manual is my only beef with this excellent game and when i work with this stuff real life i might be very perceptive with poor written manuals. But i also dream of the fun stuff you learned when reading about the tornados and falcons. I will defintily buy the printed manual if it does contain this usable stuff about how to fight and survive in the digital battlefield. .. and no i do not write manuals in english (obviously!!)) :)
  12. Teapot - i think you are correct in your assessment. We want a new up-to-date version from DI. And i would love if we could see it in DCS! :)
  13. My wishlist - a manual that just don't describe the knobs functions. I would like to have a manual as the one in Tornado, Longbow and Falcon 4. A manual that teach how to use the sterile function described in the manual. (Its like learning to program by reading: "the writeln function is used for print out text to the screen, and derives from ....". You won't be good programmer learning each function without understanding the concept! :) ) Like this: Ka-50 attack tactics: <list them>. <explain them>. <tutor them in how to execute them>. Ka-50 defensive: same as above... and on and on... I think this manual is in parity with Janes F18 which also was poorer in quality then the rest. So, if i can wish i hope the online binder version comes with this stuff. If not i hope the next product gets that! :) I think thats my only beef with the product for now!
  14. Thanks Arneh! I also come around to get EECH through Amazon.co.uk. :) I have been missing Hind since - well - since Hind! The youtube video looked fantastic.
  15. The UAC is very easy to turn off - usually the stuff that annoys most people in regards to Vista. (win-r, enter msconfig, go to the tools tab and turn off UAC). I usually have great experience with vista nowadays. Unless i want to copy files. grr. :)
