I've noticed that there are three laser codes selectable on the Targeting Display Control panel.

Can anyone explain their use to me? Is it actually possible for two aircraft's lasers to interfere with each other when in close proximity?

Thanks in advance,

Other heli can paint your target for you to deploy laser quided missiles (Kh25ML) ... Teamwork rulez! ;)

I haven't got that far in familiriazation of the systems, but so far I know that there are two selectable laser codes A and B, which I suppose is related to the utilization of 3rd party lasers. The third I guess must be either "off" or "onboard laser" select.

Thanks! So let's say that my aircraft is locked up on a tank with my laser selector in code 1 - would that mean my wingman should have code 2 or 3 selected to fire a Vikhr on the target I'm lasing and locked on?

Missles look for a specific pulse rate frequency of the laser designator. (PRF) Although, it isn't provided what the actual frequency is in positions 1 2 and 3 it's assumed they are different. When a Vikhr comes off the rail, it will look for the code that you have selected in your aircraft. So, your wingman has to have the same code selected as you do for his missle to look for the right PRF.

My question is, since the Vikhr is a beamrider, if it's not launched from MY aircraft, it seems impossible to be guided by anybody else since it won't be in the "control zone." So, is a remote laser designation possible? It seems the Vikhr doesn't look for a laser spot, just the boundaries of this "control zone."

as said before it's for laser guided missile (not laser beam riding) in this case Kh25ML

Thanks for clearing that up Peyoteros. I'll have to look up the Kh25ML. I never paid too much attention to beam riders...learned something new today:)
