This is purely my curiousity, but - most of the switch covers in the Ka-50 have holes in them that the switch lever can "poke through" (when the switch cover is closed) when the switch is in what I'll call the Desired Setting For Flight and Combat, but at least one switch doesn't conform to this, and that's the switch on the right rear panel that turns on the countermeasures (flares) stuff. Why is this?

While I'm at it, I'm also curious as to the thinking behind the ejection seat switch gang - with all 3 switches enabled, the cover cannot be fully closed. What's up with that?

thanks,

not sure about countermeasures but ejection seat switched are different the cover is designed to safely keep it off so it does not accidentally get turned on because it could be a big problem on the ground. It depends on what they do some switches need to be protected in off position until combat warrants it.

The UV26 switch is a bit weird. You would think that the cover would close in the on/operate position. Maybe maintenance was out of the little ones with holes?

As for the ejection seat, I believe that does make sense. The safety position is definitely off when it comes to the ejection seat. I think a neat cover would have 6 holes though, 3 for off-keeping and 3 for on-keeping, but what do I know I'm no aviation engineer.

But they dont have holes on both sides due to it being a safety feature the cover rests on the 3 switches for ejection seat so in emergency or some reason to turn of real quick you can just push the cover down and turn all 3 off or in other cases the switch its covering.
