Old Longbow 2 simmer about ready to go insane setting up the controls in BS!!

I’m an old LB 2 player…loved that one! Haven’t played it in awhile though, too many problems getting it to work on new systems and OS.s. Anyway I’m about to pull handfuls of my thinning hair out trying to figure out how to set up the controls in BS. I used to have all CH stuff with LB 2 but that’s all old non USB stuff and has since gone by the wayside. What I have now is a Saitek X52 non pro that I stole from my son…that he never uses and a set of CH pro USB pedals. I also have a TRACKIR 4… That seems to be working fine. I downloaded a profile from H-Street and seem to have collective…nothing is listed in the BS setup screen under CH USB or under the Saitek they are all empty. But the rudder seems to work, sort of. If I use brake pedals functions on CH pedals I either nose up…or bank right. With Saitek X52 joystick I can not nose up or down… nosing up or down seems to bank me left and right. … I can bank left and right… In the BS set up screens I can only select buttons for actions…I cant simply move stick to assign that motion to the BS control. Anyone have a step by step setup for using the X52 non pro with CH pro rudders? I’m about ready to give up on this one and go back to Armed Assault and GTR evolution…. Maybe I’m too old for this stuff now!... But I really was looking forward to reliving some of that longbow 2 thrill…. Some of the best gaming fun I’ve ever had!

Thanks for any suggestions.

The AXIS setup is the first highlighted option in the dropdown box and is a common thing to miss.

Then after that you need to assign an axis, you do this by not actually clicking and using the axis but by clicking on add and using another drop down box.

It's not very helpful that you don't know what axis you are actually assigning without going into the Axis tune setup and checking every single one, I have about 20 to choose from and so does everyone else probably :joystick:

I'm running a cougar with saitek pedals, so I'm not sure if it all works in the same way, but it should do I think. You need to go to the controls section. on the drop down menu at the top, select "axis commands" or something like that. You should have 2 columns, one for the rudder pedals, and one for the joystick. Now it will probably have tried to assign some of the controls, but got them all wrong. If you highlight the assigned commands, one by one and click "clear", you will be ready to start again.

What you need to do now, is double click the command you want to assign and a box will pop up. You then simply move the axis you wish to assign and it will pick it up automatically. Go through all the controls with the same process and you should get all the basic controls assigned no probs.

While you're at it, you might want to tune the axis on the x and y of the joystick, or it will be ridiculously sensitive (it is on the cougar anyway). I set the axis curve to about 20 and it feels great......

Good post Pantman. Right on the money. I would add that it is better to make your stick file in game. I tried with Foxy for my Cougar and it didn't work out to well as they use keys that Foxy doesn't even have as an option to press. The in game program works better then any sim I have seen though so use it to program your buttons and commands and such and the AXIS Command section for your stick, throttle, and pedal AXIS'.
