  1. I bought both seats in lovely condition from a 2002 bmw 5 series for £15 on ebay! Super comfy, adjustable in every direction you can imagine and including the sliding rails. :-) I havent done anything with them yet, but at that price I couldn't say no!
  2. Does anyone know if the flickering shadows problem has been fixed for DCS A10C? If not, will there be an option in the graphics setup to turn them off?
  3. why cant you just leave the pedals plugged into the steering wheel and then just stick the wheel out of the way. Plug the wheels USB lead into the computer and just dont assign the wheel axis to do anything. I have done this with my G25 when my Saitek pedals have broken for the 50th time. I actually found the g25 pedals to be pretty good. A bit wierd to begin with, but once you are used to them, it is just as wierd going back to proper flight rudder pedals.
  4. I dont connect with HDMI, I just use the normal VGA socket. It doesnt scale properly with the HDMI for some reason. I sit about 2 feet away - I just have the screen plonked on my computer desk just as if it were a 19" panel. People seem to think that my monitor is ridiculous when they see it. Funny thing is, it just looks correct to me now and everyone elses screens just look so inadequate.....
  5. "I think I've just answered my own question. I switched to 1920x1080 and fired up the game. Wow. 2560x1600 is really nice compared to that. I think I'll stick with the 30". " Running any non native resolution is always going to look horrible. I run a samsung 40" lcd TV in 1920 x 1080 and with lots of anti aliasing it looks great and fills loads of your field of view. On the other hand, going to a lower resolution is always going to suck a bit. At first anyway. Personally, I wouldnt swap my 40" for a higher res 30", but then I've never seen black shark running on a 30".... :)
  6. I've got a cougar as well and, like you, I found the sensitivity ridiculous. I set the the axis curvature slider to 21 on both the joy y and joy x axis and now it is beautifully controllable.....
  7. What an unnecessarily harsh response..! He just asked a question and you call him a little child.....lol....WTF...
  8. I have a set of saitek pedals and when they broke a couple of times I used my microsoft wheel pedals instead. They were a bit odd to begin with, but infinately better than a twist stick. The trouble with the X52 is that is has the most limp wristed feeble feel to the stick ever.... It has loads of features, but anyone that has ever flown a plane will know that once up to speed, the stick takes some considerable force to move it any distance and the x52 is about as far removed from that feel is possible. I told a mate to buy one based on reviews and I was so glad that I didnt..!
  9. No, I was sitting in mates lounges on sofas. I saw Call of duty 4 and some tom clancy thing on a PS3 the other day running into a brand new 1080P tv and it nearly always looked like it was struggling with the frame rate and the draw distance was really poor, with everything in the distance looking all blurry. On the PC, I sit about 3 feet away from a 40" 1080P screen and the same games are absolutely pin sharp and run totally flawlessly, and my PC is slightly lower spec than yours. I'm honestly amazed that you think your 360 looks better. Farcry2 on the 360 is another one thats not a patch on my PC. I totally get the sitting back and chilling out thing though. I would buy a console to play footie games on but thats about it I reckon. I honestly think that if they released DCS blackshark on the 360, you would be the only customer! People that like simulators buy PC's to play them on.
  10. I'm wondering if I've been seeing the same consoles as some of you guys. I've never seen fallout3 on any machine, but I've seen some titles on the PS3, Xbox 360 and the my PC and the PC version has looked and run not just slightly better, but in a whole different league to both the consoles. I always find console games look unbelievably good on the TV ads and screen shots, but then I can't believe I'm looking at the same thing when I actually see them cos they always look awfull. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong games or something??
  11. English Electric Lightning.... Except I suppose it wouldn't be much use except for blasting around on a joyride, so I would go for any model of Harrier, Tornado or Jaguar. Would also love to see a super etandard or a Mirage 2000.
  12. "In a Level D full motion simulator - the ones that cost millions - I can handle a engine failure on take-off in a Gulfstream GIV-SP. Does this lead to me believe I can do it in a real GIV-SP with a staggering 1 hour on multi engined jets? Of course not." I hope that if you can handle an engine failure in a level d sim, then you could in real life, cos thats the only time real pilots get to try those kind of emergencys, so I can only assume that they couldn't handle a real engine failure either? Thats quite a worrying thought! I hope that the only significant difference between a level d sim and real life is that in real life you would be crapping your pants... :)
  13. I'm running a cougar with saitek pedals, so I'm not sure if it all works in the same way, but it should do I think. You need to go to the controls section. on the drop down menu at the top, select "axis commands" or something like that. You should have 2 columns, one for the rudder pedals, and one for the joystick. Now it will probably have tried to assign some of the controls, but got them all wrong. If you highlight the assigned commands, one by one and click "clear", you will be ready to start again. What you need to do now, is double click the command you want to assign and a box will pop up. You then simply move the axis you wish to assign and it will pick it up automatically. Go through all the controls with the same process and you should get all the basic controls assigned no probs. While you're at it, you might want to tune the axis on the x and y of the joystick, or it will be ridiculously sensitive (it is on the cougar anyway). I set the axis curve to about 20 and it feels great......
