Configuring VFX grip for Warthog base

I've recently ordered a VFX grip.

I've Currently got a Warthog base rather than a Virpil one. Do I need to configure the grip using Virpil's software or should it just be plug and play?

I have been doing exactly this recently while I wait for my CM2 base mounts to appear. It works just fine plug-and-play, though of course you don't have the DLC or paddle axes as there aren't equivalents on the Warthog for it to read.
