HoneyViper Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 When flying some of the pre-loaded missions that come with the F/A-18C like Alert 5 and Sweep, the air-to-air combat turns into an absolute cluster after a while. Missiles from different elements going after the same targets, no organisation in who is supposed to target whom. I get a sweet shot on towards a hostile but in the replay I see that one of the ship-borne SAMs on my team get there seconds before my missile for the kill. Even in my own flight I don't know what they're targeting. How is targeting supposed to be organised? Can I at least tell the guys in my 4-ship flight who to target?
Minsky Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 It would've been easier if we had a bit deeper datalink simulation. For now you can see what the other Hornets (and Vipers/Eagles, providing there is an AWACS) nearby are targeting, and command your wingmen to attack your designated target. 1 Dima | My DCS uploads
HoneyViper Posted September 5, 2022 Author Posted September 5, 2022 That's pretty cool. I didn't realise the dotted lines were targets.
MARLAN_ Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Maybe one day we'll get all three: Commit, Lock, and TUMA (target under missile attack) lines, the TUMA line would be especially useful. Virtual CVW-8 - The mission of Virtual Carrier Air Wing EIGHT is to provide its members with an organization committed to presenting an authentic representation of U.S. Navy Carrier Air Wing operations in training and combat environments based on the real world experience of its real fighter pilots, air intercept controllers, airbosses, and many others.
WhatAmIDoingHere Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 I hate wasting missiles on targets that were already fired upon but not destroyed yet.Sent from my Pixel 5a using Tapatalk
