I just realized I have another monitor that I could use to set up multi-monitor functions for the game. I can't find any where that explains the options, though. The FAQ has one statement about changing the main/skhval view, and there are threads with screenshots but I am interested in finding the instructions and options that you can do.

I looked in all 3 of the manuals, but I am still not finding them. I would love to have one monitor stay on the control panels, while I flip around to different views on the main one. Any idea if this is possible, and please (please, please!), someone point me to the guide/instructions on this.

Thanks in advance!!!

I do thank both of you for the effort, but that is exactly what I was not looking for. I'm having trouble believing there are NO instructions about how to use this. That particular thread is 21 pages long, and I read a lot of it yesterday, but no where does it say: You have choice A, you must do this; You have choice B, you must do this, etc., etc.

In other words, I don't want a forum thread of people asking all kinds of different questions and others answering them. I would like to find where the official instructions are.

One of the main reasons for this is, every single picture on that thread shows a cockpit and a 2nd monitor with something displayed. That is not what I want and I found it odd that in 21 pages, there was never a single screenshot of any view but cockpit and a 2nd monitor. What I would like to have is a 2nd monitor that shows my cockpit panel, same view as "snap down," and then my main monitor I can jump around in views. I like to look from outside views at times, chase view, airport view, etc. Can this be done while keeping the 2nd monitor on my instruments? Must the main view be a cockpit view (every picture, yes, everyone that has DCS: Black Shark from the highlighted thread, had a cockpit view)?

This leads me to believe it must be the only way to do it, in which case I do not want to have it. I do not have complete, solid information, therefore the question about OFFICIAL INSTRUCTIONS on the use of multiple monitors (not forum member ideas and possible solutions [...to a multitude of different questions, I might add]).

There also was no need for the search function comment. I know it is there, it did not provide what I needed, ergo I made a new thread asking for the answers I seek.

I thought I read something really early on about how these setups could go, but cannot find it now. Does it exist? Am I remembering incorrectly?

Again, thanks to the two above, I do appreciate the effort. It just did not supply the answer I would like.

It is a very complex setup, so it is not easily explained.

First Questions:

a.) What GFX Card(s) are you using?

and

b.) What is the type (especially the resolution) of each display that you want to use?

Windows 10, I7 8700k@5,15GHz, 32GB Ram, GTX1080, HOTAS Warthog, Oculus Rift CV1, Obutto R3volution, Buttkicker

Thanks for the reply, I was worried it might be complex.

A.) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT- 512 MB

and

B.) Both are Dell Flat-screens, this main one is HD with resolution at 1400x900, the other is 1280x1024 (though I could change/lower the 2nd if need be)

The big thing for me is the type of setup that is allowed. Are the only things on the 2nd monitor allowed to be ABRIS/SHKVAL or extended cockpit? Can you have the 2nd monitor be setup to simply display you're control panels, such as if you just look down to the point where you no longer can see the HUD/outside? Does the 1st monitor HAVE to stay with the interior cockpit view? I definitely want to be able to switch to outside views, so if it must slave to cockpit view, I think I won't even try.

Thanks for the help, any answers or ideas are well appreciated (and again, is there any official documentation for this, or is it all fly-by-the-wire gamer-to-gamer-help setup?).

I agree with the OP. All these posts about multi monitor setup are very nice. They even helped me setup my own monitor rig. But everything I did was empirical and experimental. It's really not a clean setup... among the problems I still have I can note:

- Fullscreen mod crashes the game

- Requires a "ghost" monitor to the left because the viewscreen is always centered on the primary

- Loss of most usable feature of the F10 map (out of view on the ghost monitor)

- Loss of view of the control display [RCtrl-Enter]

- Radio text captions displayed on center and right monitor.

- etc.

For most setup problems, I would be compelled to blame the general lack of understanding of the multi monitor configuration. All we have are examples on how to do a setup, which we can tweak, but we have no actual information on how the parameters are used and, even more, what are the limitations.

That would definitely deserve a chapter in the configuration/GUI manual. Something written by someone with more than trial-and-error understanding of the video engine.

I fully agree with you here, and I was stunned that there were no instructions in the GUI manual (seems like the perfect place for them; GRAPHICS USER INTERFACE) for multi-display set-ups. If there were, I sure missed them.

By the way, no one ever called me an OP before. Should I be insulted or complimented?
