Guff Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Prior to update using a 60hz refresh rate and vsynch enabled, I was getting a steady 60fps and everything was super smooth whilst flying in default and Mariana`s scenery. Updating to version 2.7.18.30765 has resulted in my frames per second dropping down to 40fps or less at times which is now obviously leading to "stuttering". To get the sim to run smooth i now have to set my refresh rate to 30hz, and although my frame rate is now steady at 30 fps and graphics super smooth, due to the lower refresh rate i now get slightly blurred scenery. Prior to the update, windows 10 had not had any updates and video driver had not been updated and no changes had been made to my DCS setting. So, to summarise with everything working fine and no changes to my DCS settings simply updating to the above release version has caused this problem. I did try updating my video driver to the latest release, but things are still the same. It would seem something in this update has affected the 2D graphics performance. I have looked on the forums and cannot see anybody else having graphic performance issues since this update. I hope it is something that can be addressed in the next update since i am not enjoying my flying so much now.
rob10 Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Have you tried deleting your FXO and Metashaders2 directories (user/Saved Games/DCS openbeta)? That can clean things up after an update and may help. Pretty painless to do as worst case you wait an extra minute on your next load for them to rebuild.
Guff Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 I gave it a try, but unfortunately i still have the problem, thank you for the suggestion.
FatClemenza Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 I am experiencing the same problem. Even went so far as to uninstall DCS, delete all the remaining DCS directories, reinstall with only the Hornet and Nevada...still got the same sudden frame drops / stuttering. Was running perfectly with nearly maxed out settings (I have a beefy computer) before this started...I am running Windows 11, which had a bunch of updates lately, but since you are running Windows 10, that kinda rules that out....
RLSinCO Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Just a thought, but for those of you encountering the stuttering issues, are you running DCS from Steam? There was a recent Steam VR update that is causing big problems in all VR titles, the fix is to run the beta version of Steam VR and that has fixed a lot of performance issues for many.
FatClemenza Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Thanks, but no, this is not the steam version...it's not even VR, just simple 2D single player take-off, circuit, land...goes from 60fps, to <10, back to 60 fps within a second or two causing frequent stutters...
Glide Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Try turning off all shadows temporarily. There's a known issue with the new lighting engine.
