Dogmanbird Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Good news for those who want a detent-less slider for space sims or the harrier etc. Just disassembled a friends throttle. Although the potentiometer has a detent built in, only a third of the pots travel is used, therefore you can pull off the lever and rotate the pot to a new position so the detent is beyond the range of travel and re attach the lever. Re calibrate and all good
splash Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 (edited) Hi, have you got any photos about the process? I have a problem with my slider which always return to center when you lift the finger off it near the detent (please have a look at the video). Following Virpil service, I opened the throttle but I couldn't find anything wrong, and does not found out how to rotate the pot. I still did not decide if send it to the Virpil service or not. https://drive.google.com/file/d/19rRuSJllIuagzhqKCb5Kkuestnc6mHmO/view?usp=share_link Thanks. Edited January 20, 2023 by splash 1
Dogmanbird Posted March 9, 2023 Author Posted March 9, 2023 (edited) hi splash. no i don't have any photos i'm sorry. Looking at your video, I think it's the pot's centre detent mechanism that's faulty, and not something internally pressing against the lever or pot within the grip. i'd say that if you are happy to have no detent, doing the above would give you clean travel from end to end, as an easy fix. You don't rotate the entire pot, you simply turn the shaft/sweeper to a new position and then put the plastic lever back onto the shaft of the pot Being from January, I'd imagine you've probably already had it sorted by now. splash Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Thanks for your answer. For now, as we have two years of warranty, I have not sent the throttle to Virpil, because I have placed a piece of felt under the slider and now the displacement is much rougher and has less tendency to go towards the center. The detent in the center is definitely annoying and I think I'll end up trying what you say, but I need a quite afternoon to study the area again. When I opened the throttle (as suggested by Virpil support), it was not very clear to me how the mechanism works.
Rikk Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Thanks for that, been hating the detent since I've had it, 10 mins and all gone. Also stiffened up the movement with some extra felt on the back
