mad366 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I would like to replace my secondary HDD with new one because of bad sectors that started to appear on it. Unfortunately I'm using this drive for my games installation and of course Black Shark is installed on it also. My question is: do I need to deactivate before HDD replacement? I saw in FAQ that hard drive change consumes 3 of 12 points, but I'm not sure about the procedure. Should I reinstall it on a new drive or can I just do a partition 1:1 copy? Any help will be appreciated. Konrad
Frederf Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Activation number is just the number of times in a row you can activate before you have to phone up the folks at the place and beg for some more. I think unactivating increases your activation count by one so I would do that, fresh install, and reactivate.
GGTharos Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 If you aren't replacing the OS drive then you can uninstall and reinstall without worrying about it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
mad366 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 Yes, I want to replace my secondary drive (not my OS drive). Thank you very much for information. I'll do as you suggesting. Konrad
