Shack Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Trying to setup my TOP GUN MIP and on the MFD Display screen, I get a red error message of " Check info about DCS World " in red font with a further comment about not being able to find the Options.Lua. I setup my default user path and pointed it to the C:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config folder as well as the "view" folder where the Options.Lua resides, but apparently that's not correct. Any suggestions ? Intel i9 14900K @5.5 MHz, 64GB DDR 5 RAM at 6000 MHz, RTX4090, Pimax Crystal HMD, HOTAS: Winwing F16EX / Orion 2 Throttle base / Top Gun MIP / F-16 ICP setup. rob10 Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 You're setting those in the SimAppPro SETTINGS under the DCS World Configuration? "Install path" should be where the program is installed (not the saved games file, more like C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta) and the "User Data Path" shouldn't be down as far as CONFIG folder, just xxx\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta.
MustangSally Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 As per Rob10, your paths are incorrect Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir
Shack Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 Thanks. I did clean up the path info and cleared the Options.Lua red warning, but still have the Check DCS World red warning ... see and confirm below please ? Shack Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) Thank you for your willingness to help. So I got all MFD Display page items to go green. Now to figure why DCS data is not being transmitted to my MIP setup ... incremental progress ! I was pretty excited to get this setup from WinWing but my fun factor meter is now running on empty trying to figure how to overcome the next obstacle. I'm reading about the wwrt lua file that's supposed to write between MIP and DCS - my next rabbit hole to dive into ! rob10 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Check in your DCS settings. The one that not so obvious is you need to set MONITORS (I think that's what it's called) is set to WINWING. It defaults to 1 monitor and has a bunch of other options too, but you want WINWING. It's a bit tricky to get it set up, but worth it once you do. Hang in there.
Shack Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 Got both DDI’s showing data from DCS but the AMPCD not and UFC is still showing a starburst pattern Intel i9 14900K @5.5 MHz, 64GB DDR 5 RAM at 6000 MHz, RTX4090, Pimax Crystal HMD, HOTAS: Winwing F16EX / Orion 2 Throttle base / Top Gun MIP / F-16 ICP setup. rob10 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 How do you have it connected? My 1st thought would be a power or data throughput problem
Shack Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) The LCD screen being used as the AMPCD appears to function properly as an additional monitor in the Display Manager and will allow for files to be dragged onto the screen as any other normal screen. Issue still persists that it will not display any sim data and only shows desktop ( while the DDI's are operating normally after I selected the Winwing option under the Monitors setting ). I'll check again on the UFC connection but still showing as seen below. Wondering if it might be the settings in SIMAPP causing both issues ? Narsim1317 Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 What you see in thos picture is coirrect! Once you save all and start DCS (with app running), you will firt see the screens gop black, but when you jump in the cockpit (try free flight) everithing goes ok!
rob10 Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 What you're seeing is normal if you're not actually in a plane yet (especially UFC). If you're not getting the DDI's and AMPCD once you're actively in the cockpit in DCS then you might have to play with settings. In your windows DISPLAY options, set the WinWing displays up vertically along the right side of the main screen (likely you can do it other ways, but that's what worked for me, and IIRC I had to play with that to get them all to display). In SimAppPro you can make the individual screens show green (increase "green scene" at bottom of each in the last step of setup) to make sure you have them properly assigned. My only other thought with the UFC is that I'm assuming you realize you need to have SimAppPro actively running in the background to get the UFC sync with DCS.

I adjusted the resolution on my main monitor to the highest resolution and that caused the screens to display respective data to the right screens. I find SIMAPP to be somewhat anemic in defining the DEVICE section. Can you tell me what this page does exactly ? My Left DDI's Pushbuttons are controlling my right DDI functions and I think the screens although appearing correctly in the MFD Display screen are not correctly assigned in the DEVICE section. My UFC / HUD Control switches are activating the correct switches in the simulation but I still do cannot get the proper digits to appear in the WINWING UFC. This is in the cockpit flying in DCS. Thank you. You can use a button push to see which one you're in (button should light) and literally select if you want it as L(eft), C (AMPCD) or R(ight). In your case just go into each one and if it currently has R highlighted select L and vice versa and leave the C one the way it is.
Boogie Mitchell Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 *Following these discussions. I've been eyeing the MIP for months and likely purchasing in the coming months. I'm more interested in how everyone uses their main monitor. I've seen it's possible to do a HUD only view in DCS, though with DDI's along the bottom. So that's not ideal. Nor would just uses the standard view, since you're just duplicating the DDI's on a screen with what's actually in front of view. Has anyone successfully changed the HUD only view to be actually HUD only? I would think with so many cockpit builders out there (I'm one of them), this would have been implemented in DCS by now. (I'm also very new to DCS, so I'm late to the party).
