Kaned Dragon Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 I have an Alesis V61 midi keyboard, used for music. it's has some buttons and knobs which i would like to assign in game. (Example would be use the knobs to control the cockpit lights, or analogue rudder or pitch.) Is there any way of doing this?
rob10 Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Have you tried to see if it shows up as a controller in DCS? Hopefully it does, then you just assign the functions the same way as anything else.
Kaned Dragon Posted January 22, 2023 Author Posted January 22, 2023 No i checked and it's not showing up on the options screen. I'm seeing if there's any software for it, might need to change a setting so it will show up. It's connect via usb so i'm hoping it can be used as another controller
rob10 Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Unfortunate that the easy solution doesn't work (I always like to suggest it, because sometimes it gets overlooked). Next option is to see if something like Joystick Gremlin or a program like that works. There are a number of them that will let you program functions. A third button option (not as good option because you won't be able to use the knobs as axis) would be to use AutoHotKey. I suspect you'd be able to use it to detect MIDI presses to generate a keypress in game.
Munkwolf Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 (edited) i havent tried it yet, but the software i was looking to use to add some midi devices to my rig is midi2vjoy: https://github.com/c0redumb/midi2vjoy if you search forums for it you'll find some other threads like would also recommend joystick gremlin for general control customization, but it won't pick up midi devices. if midi2vjoy works and sends commands to vjoy, could likely use gremlin to customize the vjoy inputs from the midi device (axis curves, macros, etc): http://whitemagic.github.io/JoystickGremlin/ Edited January 24, 2023 by Munkwolf 2
