Ok, the thread for all headsets is kinda confusing. Maybe we can make different threads for different headsets.

Whats the workaround/recommending for pimax 8kx users?

My game crashes running on Pimax XR 0.3.0

I run a Pimax 8KX and it works GREAT with the DCS native OpenXR

Here is my setup:

Pimax 8KX at 70MHz
PiTool V1.0.1.284
PimaxXR 0.3.1 a beta from mbucchia that can be found on the OpenXR Toolkit discord (0.3.0 works also)

Create a Shortcut to launch DCS with the following option on the command line:
"G:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" --force_OpenXR

A few things to check first:
If you used OpenComposite, disable/remove it (either in the OpenComposite app or remove the .dll if you put it in manually)
Make sure Smart Smoothing and Parallel Projection are disabled
Make sure the Pixel Density in DCS is set to 1.0

I have a thread on the OpenXR Toolkit discord with all of my settings and steps but it would occupy a lot of space here

Okay, cool. I give it a try.

As i am not very common with Discord, i think collecting DCS related infos here is a good thing.

Where do you get iTool 284 and how do you run the 8kx in 70MHz?

So, after testing several settings, i can say that i get constant freezes when i start with command ...DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" --force_OpenXR

Sometimes while loading the game, sometimes while in main menue, and with luck i can start a mission, but never made it into the cockpit.

I reinstalles (over repairfunction) the whole bin directory, nothing left from composite thingys.

I really dont know what to do. If i start normal, like with SteamVR it has no freeze crashes, but the framerate is after the update worse than ever. i am at constant 60 fps with following settings (if i enable lock an 45 fps via pitool i get artefacts).

 

PS ingame 1.0
MSAA Mask (whatever it means) 0,42

PiTool all off, Render 1.0

My specs:

12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K   3.20 GHz
GeForce 3080TI
128GB

This morning I experienced DCS crashes using the DCS shortcut recommended with yesterday’s hot fix. Multiplayer only, SP was fine with good performance. I am still exploring performance metrics but a fix for me was:

open the Pitool in the games tab clear out DCS if present. Then import the DCS Shortcut from your desktop. 
 

Start DCS from the Pitool. It will fire up SteamVR but in OpenXR Runtime mode. But it appeared to fix the crashes.

Yes, with starting up SteamVR it runs well with around 60 fps with my above posted settings (which dont look great tbh).

But isnt it that we all wanna spare SteamVR out?

You have a newer headset than I do. Mine is an old (like early model) one before they were able to do 90Hz

I tried this Open XR for the first time.  Steam VR is still smoother on my system.  If I could get rid of the micro stutter when looking to the side flying down low it would be a great experience.

Best results starting the created Desktop-Shortcut( with command ...DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" --force_OpenXR ---- as mentioned by Nuggetz - thank you for this) from PiTool. Steam VR starts as well, but i have the best performance ever.

We played a marrianas Mission with really a lot of gunnery and smoke and i hat not one single stutter .... everythin buttersmooth @45 fps.

Some screenshots to se how much was in the air. We flew with 4 Huey MP with 5 ppl on my PC.
