Hi

I am trying to learn this awesome machine by using the casual/game flight mode instead of realistic.

When the setting is realistic... the collective on my Joystic works fine.

When I switch it over to casual or game it looses the setting on my joystick and I am having trouble assigning it as it doen't recognise the throttle when I move it.

I looked at the list of assignments under realistic do try and figure out what I need to choose from the drop down list (there are so many) but there is nothing listed there either althought it is working in realistic mode.

I am using a Sidewinder Precision Pro 2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gian

There are 2 different assignment "sheets" for realistic and game mode. If you want to manipulate the assignments for game mode, you have to select Ka-50 game from the dropdown menu top left in the controls menu.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Hi

Yes, that is what I am trying to configure. The collective assignments there are empty for my joystick and it doesn't recognise when I move the throttle axis when I choose 'Add'

So I am a bit stumped.....

thanks,

Gian

Oh... i guess i misread your post there. Are you sure you're in the axis assignment page on both profiles? There are buttons too for upping the collective, but if you want to assign axes, you have to do it in the separate axes page, selectable from the second dropdown menu.

Hmmm... that is a good question... I think I have looked at the buttons only.

I cannot recall having seen assigning an axis option.... Is it listed at the bottom of the screen as well?

Thanks!

No, it's in the dropdown menu where you would choose cyclic or collective assignments, only it's called axis assignments.

So this is for Realistic and Game mode? I will check as it is working already in Realistic mode and wonder why it will be disconnected in Game mode.

I will have a look when I get home tonight...

Thanks for the pointer!

Hey Man, just my opinion, but if you really want to fly in "sim" (real) mode eventually, don't go the "arcade-game" route. They are very different beasts, and as another poster on another thread said (I am paraphrasing), "It is best to learn how to fly the sim as a sim and not use extra help, because all that will do it set you up with very bad habits that you will have to unlearn later on."

It will be well worth it to you once you have the sim down, and it is not really that hard, just take it a few steps at a time. My first two weeks I couldn't take-off and hover, now I can with pretty much 100% success, and have even learned how to take off straight into forward flight with use of trimmer settings.

If you want an arcade chopper game, go with the "game" mode, but it has been my experience that if you want to "sim" it, it doesn't work like a ladder where the first rung is the arcade game. Mine is 100% sim except for outside views (too beautiful to pass up), crash recovery while I am still learning (let's face it, the load times are just painful) and I use "trimmer-reset" (even though it has been said it is not in the real Ka-50).

Whichever way you decide to fly, HAVE FUN!, it is an awesome sim/game!
