PJPower05 Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Notice that when you look at Krysk on a map, it has a "68KW" listed as navigation... Not really sure what this does, but for the life of me I can't figure out if it is something to do with ADF navigation. Also noticed that the communications seems to be broken. Can't contact the tower, request a bogey dope 3-4 times before the AWACS spits out like 4 to 8 responses some 2-3 minutes later... Pretty comfortable with the F5, not sure if this is a bug, or I have something set wrong. Any help is appricated.
Stryker359 Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I actually think the AWACS might be scripted in this campaign, because I was having similar issues. Saying that, at one point it wasn't until I'd had a wing shot off by MiG-21s that I realised the reason nobody was responding to my orders was that my radios were turned off...
Sarowa Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 FWIW, I've just been using pilotage and dead reckoning to get around. The kneeboard shows you a map with waypoints, and it's easy enough to pick out landmarks near them. The briefing includes an ETA to each waypoint too that you can match up with the clock in your cockpit. 1
SorelRo Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 AWACS is not fully scripted, you should be getting responses from it when interrogated with bogey dope or anything like this. If it doesn't that must be a DCS bug, If you tell me the mission name, I can ran a few tests, also, if you are asking in the unlucky event when the AWACS is in a turn and loosing track on the bogeys, you won't be getting an accurate response. Navigation is dead reckoning, later on the campaign the airports you are operating from will receive a TACAN beacon and you can use that to guide you home. the waypoints are setup next to distinguishable landmarks, lakes, forests patches, promontory, you should have a quick glance at the map when flying to a waypoint and make sure you know what to look for.
