FlankerKiller Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Would you please consider adding the A-10C's Ai functionality to the other DCS modules. I'm particularly speaking of the "engage with" commands. Ive been playing with the A-10C alot lately. I have to say it's wingmen commands are absolutely the gold standard for DCS. The ability to have your wingmen attack a specific type of target, with a specific type of weapon, from a specific direction is awesome. I actually feel like I'm leading a flight, like the decisions I make actually matter. That brings me to the meat of my request. The A-10C's wingmen commands and functionality is far above the rest of the DCS modules. The forth gen fighters would definitely benefit from the same level of control over the Ai members of your flight. Particularly on SEAD and CAS missions. The helicopters in particular would benefit from this functionality. Maybe add a from hover for the attack direction. This would alow the flight lead to issue the target, the direction, and the weapon. Giving the player the ability actually lead the flight. Allowing the lead to select the appropriate weapon for the threat level and the ability to keep the Ai flight members away from dangerous areas. Combine this with the ability to send data linked targets like in the KA-50, at least in modern aircraft that have a date link, and you would have real control over your Ai flight. Allowing them to be a real asset to you in completing your mission. These functionalities currently exist in game, but are limited to certain modules. All modules would benefit from having these functionalities integrated into them. Something that dose not exist currently is the ability to select types of airborne targets. For instance that ability to tell your Ai wingmen to attack bombers, fighters, attack aircraft, or helicopters. You can define it in the misson editor. But not direct it from the cockpit. I know what I'm asking here isn't as simple as a text file change, but it would require serious coding. But it is already possible on certain aircraft. I do believe it would be well worth the effort as having these abilities would greatly improve the immersion of the single player experience. Allowing the player to actually lead the flight, managing its recorces, and managing risk by keeping it away from the most dangerous areas. Where these functionalities are available they greatly enhance the single player experience. I think they would be a great enhancement to all DCS aircraft.
