markom Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Slowly going through the campaign, and enjoying the frustration of vagueness - it really creates the illusion of being a cog and not a superhero when flying these missions. I fly back, mission success, and personally have like 1 or 2 hits. I never served in military, but I suppose this is how things look like. Now, with that in mind, the latest mission I flew was #4. Find below some observations that made the frustration a bit larger. Spoiler Some of the experience may be influenced/affected by MT bugs, so I am not going to whine about mistimed triggers until I try again, but... AAA around the dam is really hard to find. I was doing low-pass flyovers to bait them. This was somewhat successful. However, for some reason, my CCIP line was all skewed (could be wind?), and I wasted a bunch of bombs before I figured out that the best way to deal with them was my gun. That worked well, and I ran out of ammo. Come secondary objective, I had one Mav and 2 MK83 with broken aim left. Between me and the AI, I managed to take care of two helicopters. I just couldn't find 3rd, and was running out of fuel. Quick refuel, and I flew back, armed with 3 AA missiles. I finally managed to spot the helo, alas couldn't hit it on the ground with AA missiles. That's the story, but real feature request was the ability to ask some of the AI to just drop some bombs "at my target" or the equivalent. I could see bombs and missiles on other aircraft, but they were just buzzing around, with that one helo just sitting there it was. 1

Destroying Dam AAA should lead the way for Tak Force Zeus assault on Dam via helos. Will look at adding" Wingman, hit my target" option. Maybe add message to remind player 'Destroy x3 helos at Tabqa" after initial prompt. Anyting else I can add do let me know

Multiple times the dam AAA was dead but other stuff shot the helos down. That and some frustrating AI ramming me or my wingman while attempting the AAR made it a nightmare. 1

Cant really change Ai behaviour but fear not im sure new DCS patches will drastically improve Ai flight models and avoid Ai aircraft bouncing around stuff. Updates: - Other units killing Strykers target - fixed - Targets hiding on the far side of the dam wall making them invisible to sensors - All fixed - more streamlined mission ojectives - Improved secondaries - entirely new mission brief docs/orders - many other fixes to helos behaviiurs - extra AAA threats / manpads - added extra units to Strykers targets to make prominent - Lots new infantry (RED) with RPGS - Bone11 gets a wingman Coming soon Edited April 3, 2023 by Looking Glass 1

There were bugs with the CCIP and I had that issue, Howeever that seems to be fine now. Targets on the DAM WALL were hiding down the back of the dam and thus invinceble. Now made targets much more prominent and better placed. Secondary attack on airfield - have improved prominence of helos at airfield - surprise for players in there too with all round better attack at airfield. Be sure to use Bone11 to bring the action. Also noted ability for wingman to ATTACK your target in case you runout of ammo. You wanna test mission for us? 1
