widget Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I had BS running fine on my Win XP box for a few weeks. Then soon after I overclocked the FSB by 5 MHz, BS started crashing with the attached fatal error message. I deauthorised the software and re-installed it but the crash still occurs as soon as I try to play the sim. No problem with getting to the interface screen though. I'm wondering if the overclocking triggered some sort of problem with the Starforce security software. Anyone have any suggestions?fatal error.pdf
ED Team USSR_Rik Posted February 4, 2009 ED Team Posted February 4, 2009 Did you try to return to standard settings (without overclocking)? After bus overclocking you can get problems in any part of PC starting of memory and processor and finishing of periphery (devices in PCI slots, onboard sound etc.) Men may keep a sort of level of good, but no man has ever been able to keep on one level of evil. widget Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Yes, I did. Crash still occurred. Then I re-installed the software to see if it would make any difference. But it still crashed. So I'm wondering how to completely remove the software (including Starforce) to try a fully clean installation. Assuming Starforce is the problem - error message seems to suggest this.

I sent an email to tech support about 2 weeks ago but haven't heard a thing. After yet more futile attempts to re-install BS, I'm now down to 4 activations with no joy. BS is just a dud and a waste of money at present.
kwild Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Are u sayng that i must ask my money back?????????????????????
tusler Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hi, I'm no expert but it looks like you are having a conflict with starforce. To uninstall starforce look in your device listing and if you find it you can uninstall it there. I would do a uninstall of BS first then the starforce driver. I had a similar problem so I took a 40gig drive and put XP with SP3 and all updates on fresh then installed black shark, it worked and I have no more conflict. If you use any virtual cd programs, alchol120 or anything like that starforce may not like it. All I can say is Black Shark is a good enough program that to format and reinstall fresh is worth it for me. Hope this helps Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:! kwild Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 yes i think it's a starforce problem. In fact the game crashes during the authorization (when tryes to load the authorization pop up). Just installed a fresh copy of xp sp2 on another HD and Black Shark works with no problems. In the other OS i have Daemon Tools installed , maybe the starforce conflict with that application (i remember in the past Daemon Tools have know issues with Starforce).
widget Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Are u sayng that i must ask my money back????????????????????? Sorry for the delayed reply. I was so fed up with BS that I haven't bothered to check the forum until now. Stuffing around with BS eventually caused Win XP to bugger up. So I had to re-install the OS. I didn't even have any virtual CD software on the PC in the first place. So I think the problem was with Starforce. I don't really care about the reason any more. I've gone off BS after wasting so much time re-installing my other software.
IIIJG11 Reaper Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Thats a shame Widget,,, Its a great Sim
JG14_Smil Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 did you try disabling Crossfire? I Have the same proble. kwild Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 nope....as i've already wrote the problem is caused by starforce protection...
Bravo020 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Do any of the errors messages state that the issue is related to the starforce protection system or is it just a guess that that might be the cause?
hyperfighter Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 (edited) so, u are running the cd version. as far as i know only the russian cd uses starforce, the download doesnt.broken hardware / corrupted files can give unpredictable results too. try running chkdsk.exe and do a reinstall see if it persists...(just reinstalling on the same pc without changing hardware wont cost you a reactivation/activation).
