For now I read the previous comments and simply focussed on the (technical) question why it's generally not possible to load a campaign onto a server to enjoy it together with a friend.

But it is possible.  A campaign is just a group of missions stitched together in a special format.  Yes, that special format (the campaign structure) only supports SP.  However, if you're willing to forego the campaign progress wrapper, you can load missions onto a dedicated server and play with friends.

There aren't many people creating MP campaigns out there.  But, depending on what you fly there are some you could attempt.

I know of MP campaigns for the following aircraft

F/A-18C Hornet - Hormuz campaign from Jenson (PG Map + Supercarrier)

AH-64D Apache - Griffins Campaign from Daggobert and remastered by Mistermann (PG Map)

OH-58D Kiowa - Assassins Campaign by Mistermann (Syria Map)

The ones I did have fully voiced experiences and offer a story progression.  Jenson's Hormuz campaign is excellent.  Its a real shame, IMO, that there aren't more people putting these MP story campaigns together.
