Adding Thrustmaster t1600 caused problems

Hi all,

I'm new to DCS, although I've been using X-plane 11 and 12 for about 12 months.  Upon discovering and downloading DCS, I used my existing yoke and throttle quadrants to see if I wanted to really dive into DCS -- and I do!  So after watching some videos and listening to advice, I purchased the Thrustmaster t1600 joystick and throttle.

But when I installed them, I noticed an immediate decrease in performance. Lots of staggering on the screen, etc.  Upon researching the problem a bit, I found that my FRAME RATE had decreased from 60-70 FPS to around 20 FPS (average).

Here are my system specs:

Processor:  11th Gen intel core (TM) i9 - 11900H@2.5 GHZ

RAM:  32 GM

HD:  950 GB

So here's my question:  Will I have to return the Thrustmaster hardware, or are there some system settings I can change so that I can continue to use them? 

PS:  I did change my graphics options to LOW instead of HIGH, but I saw no difference in performance when I did this.

PPS:  I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place -- this is my first post, so let me know where I should have posted and I'll do better next time.

Hi,

I don't remember the exact name (T.A.R.G.E.T. ?), but have you installed any Thrustmaster software for the controllers?

If yes, make sure it's up to date.

If it's up to date, then maybe uninstall it completely and see if the problem persists?

I have the same joystick and throttles (and also the pedals) and I have never experienced any performance issues from them on multiple PCs. I'm using the stock Windows 10 drivers.

I didn't see how to make sure TARGET is up to date, but since I just downloaded it yesterday I assume it was.  So I deleted it and now all is well.
