Bisch Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 According to what I ve heard BS is going to be released on Steam in the future. After two hardware upgrades and installing Win 7 beta two times I already lost 4 activations. I really tried hard to save more buy saving the registry key and using the deactivation / re-activation (which never really worked, although I did what starforce says on it's page). I ll keep on upgrading my computer this spring and summer and I don't want to run out of activations in 2010. I know it's an sophisticated licence / publishing isssue to allow online customers to activate their BS on steam as soon as it's available there, but I really beg to ED do everything possible to give us this opportunity. Same applies for future DCS modules. Airway Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Hello! If you had planned ahead and did both hardware upgrades at a time together with installation of Windows 7 (wich is a time limited beta and would require a new OS installation another time) and using a deactivation wouldn't have taken you one more activation. So I think you are the 1 out of 10000 rare case. It's not sure if Black Shark will be released on Steam - where have you heard that rumour? They are thinking about it and testing the possibilies but all that's said. Would be nice though - yes. Maybe. I agree.
Bisch Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 You missed something: I DID use deactivation but one time it didn't work (although done according to the steps explained on the SF page) and one time the re-activation including re-activation key took one from my ACTIVATION numbers. A third time I had to activate two times in a row because the first activation didnt work properly. Didn't change anything to hard- or software. Win 7 install and new HDD was the same step by the way. And I completley disagree when you say, that I should plan my upgrades better. The HDD was a gift and the new grafics card I ll get will be an additional unexpected (!) gift. I don't think I have to subordinate my plans of upgrading or changing my system to Black Shark.... or Star Force to be more precise. Starforce sucks and annoys customers just because Black Shark is a great program made be great developers won't make me overlook this fact. Actually I even convinced two friends to buy BS too and appeased them when the got angry about SF in BS. But I changed my mind. Id still recommend BS but I wouldn't trivialise SF anymore like I did.
