Hey everyone, I apologize if this thread is supposed to be somewhere else.

I thought there was a sticky for this, but I dont see it, and I used the search function, but didnt get any solid results. so here we are.

I actually have a few bugs to ask/report about, some of which I cant remember right now.

The one that seems to be affecting me more and more lately however, is auto pilot going on the fritz for apparently no reason.

It seems to be connected with engaging the auto hover.

I dont know if its also connected via the fact that often the auto pilot button light, stays on after you have turned it off.

sorry, I know this is not the right way to write a bug, Im, just rushing out the door, and wanted to get this out there.

Thanks.

Im not sure this will help, but I have found that the "auto hover" (if you are refering to the hover hold) works by marking a "spot" in space that your at when you turn it on. The autopilots will now try to get you to, and keep you at, that spot in space. So, if you're in a hover, no problem, but if your moving forward, the autopilots will try to yank the helicopter all over the place to get it back to the spot you picked.

So, basically, you use this autopilot to hold you in a stable hover, but only after your helicopter is basically hovering (or at least only moving a bit). turning this on while flying fast usually leads to a nice wild bull ride lol.

Hope that helps, and hope I explained it right.

I've noticed this behaviour if I take off, and forget to trim (and thus am holding the stick forward to maintain a non-crazy pitch), and then engage auto-hover.

If at that point I release the stick, heading hold, pitch hold, and bank hold all flash and the helo goes mental.

I believe this is because the default ground pitch is too far up for the autopilot to correct (i.e. it's out of the autopilot's authority) and so the autopilot bugs out. However this is mainly conjecture - all I know for sure is that if I trim properly during the first few seconds of flight, all is well.

Question, are you starting the helo up from cold ? Also, are you using the "easy" button for start up (Left-WIN-Home). If so, you need to wait AT LEAST 3 min after start for the INU to allign. I have found that when you see all 3 autopilots flashing on and off, it means the INU is not aligned and the autopilots wont work.

There is a big thread on the forum dealing with this auto pilot issue AND the easy start up/shut down key (and its problems).

Hope this helps

If you are in auto hover mode and you descend below 4m your autopilots will disengage automatically without warning.

When you say that the auto pilot button light, stays on after you have turned it off are you sure it's not the altitude hold light that you are seeing?

When you engage autohover, your altitude hold autopilot will also engage, but it does not disengage when you disengage autohover.

Both behavious are just as in the real Ka50 apparently. You can read more on the Sticky thread on this forumn called BS Auto Pilot description and operation

roger that guys, yeah, ive noticed this issue for a while, and at first, I thought that it was an issue connected with using "easy" start up option, but lately it has been occurring in flights where i start everything myself.

I know there is issues with easy start up, and I usually dont use it, but sometimes I do just because im lazy, or i want to take a smoke break while it starts up.

Also, I think im pretty good about not engaging hover hold until my airspeed and climb/descent are all where they should be, and i always disengage the hover hold, when leaving the hover.

However, if you notice, alot of times the blue button for hover, will stay lit even after you have disengaged the system. even if you press ctrl x to turn off rad alt hold, the button will still stay lit. (sometimes it turns off, sometimes it doesnt)

OK just wanted to make sure it wasnt just me and that ED was aware of it.

It'll probably get fixed in the next patch.

It just drives me nuts sometimes, because it always seems to happen right at the worst frickin time. low altitude, hiding from enemy's, trying to get positioned for an attack, and just when you think you got it, you realize she wont sit still and your auto pilot says 'happy birthday see you later".

ah yeah, i forgot about that below 4m thing, that may have been what did it a few times yesterday. thanks ill remember that.

im just talking about the blue button that says alt hold, so its not supposed to go off after disengaging the hover?

thanks guys, I definitely still have alot to learn, and im not trying to come off as complaining, I just thought I would ask.

Time to go for a flight.
