markturner1960 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I have been having issues with my new Quest pro that started after 2 weeks of no problems on my main PC. Basically, it just freezes randomly. By careful troubleshooting and process of elimination, we have ruled out a DCS problem and a headset software problem. I have installed Oculus and the headset on my number 2 PC and so far, it’s working fine. So, it looks as though the headset and cable are not the cause. I have also re installed windows and DCS on the main PC, and still have the issue. Can any experts out there help me with suggestions as to what on the PC may be causing the issue? Myself, I am inclined to suspect something to do with connectivity, but am unsure exactly how the system works with the headset. ( I mean, if the connection is lost or interrupted for whatever reason, would this cause a freeze) I am using the link cable. Please note, the headset does not stop working, just the PC VR app. May or may not be related, but I have an onboard 5 port USB 3 card on the PC that seems to be playing up, although nothing to do with the headset was using it. Any ideas gratefully received System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
Bazz_Mulder Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 It looks like hw issue with USB ports, try to disconnect that extra usb card and check in bios if you don't have any weird settings for usb as legacy etc. I would reinstall mb drivers also. On AMD some bios version caused stuttering problems because of usb. Just my 5 cents, good luck! Kowalsky - "Fox 3" simply means that you have commitment issues
markturner1960 Posted June 23, 2023 Author Posted June 23, 2023 Thank you for the suggestions. By way of an update, I had a freeze while running on PC2, so have used a new after market llink cable to try and rule a faulty link cable out.....testing continues. BitMaster Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) Things you can do if you haven't done them yet are updating Bios or if the newest one is installed then hit the "Clear CMOS" button and set it up again. My board had 2 Bios' issued lately and one of them caused my Corsair Keyboard to go dead once in a while, unplug-plug_back_in solved the problem quickly but in the end I took another Port and ever since it's ok again. In other words, you need to shuffle the cards and hope for better luck. Update all that you can, Bios, Chipset, and/or reset Bios, change Ports from Southbridge-bound to CPU-bound or vice versa ( check your mobo's block diagram which USB connects directly to CPU and which one goes to the Southbridge Chip or even a 3rd Party USB controller onboard or AIC. If it is not the hardware, it's even harder to pinpoint what it is...Good Luck Edited June 26, 2023 by BitMaster Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
