Warsaw Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 After installing update 2.8.7.42718 (2Jun2023), my F/A-18C single player saved missions now have significant screen stuttering (in all of the 3 regions I own), while my A-10CII single player saved missions (in all 3 regions) continue to operate normally with no stuttering. Anyone have clue as to what I should look at or change to resolve this? (The previous version I used with no stuttering was 2.8.4.39731) 1
Match Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 I’ve just registered to the forum for a very similar problem since a couple of months: I’ve got heavy stuttering with the F/A-18C in single player instant actions mission (didn’t tried the MP yet). I didn’t try with other missions cause I’ve done a recent clean installation for dcs hoping that can solve the problem. I also tried one mission I made to do a little free flying with the MB-339 and it seem work smooth without any stutter. I made some video to show the issue, I can upload those tomorrow and also do some other test. let me know if I can do some specific test thanks in advice (and sorry for my bad English) Alex "Match" C. - SPARTAN#033 - 1st Spartacus Fighter Squad - Demon Hornets ______________________________________________________________________________________________ AMD Ryzen 7 5800X - INNO3D RTX3080 - DRAM 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600 Mhz - MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus PSU CORSAIR TXM Series TX750M 750 Watt Semi Modular 80+ Gold
Warsaw Posted August 23, 2023 Author Posted August 23, 2023 (edited) Match.... My issue occurs with F-18 single player saved missions that I have created over the past year. (I don't use instant actions missions, so I don't have any experience with issues there.) Had a user on Facebook suggest deleting FXO and metashader2 folders "to force dcs to recreate the caches". Did the delete and saw no change and waiting for any other suggestions. Edited August 23, 2023 by Warsaw 1

I'm trying different possible fix for weeks, including cleaning the shaders from saved games folder, recreating the whole DCSOpenBeta Folder in saved games, clean the DirectX Cache, Clean the Nvidia Shaders, do a clean installation of Nvidia Drivers, tryed to lower setup, tryed to do a clean up and repair, tryed to do a clean installation of DCS, check if the problem remain even in ST (and yes) and a lot of other thing i can't remember now. Yesterday i had found this in another section of the forum I've done another test and i verified that with the radar turned off the stuttering almost disappear, not completely, but they're reduced at acceptable level. Some days ago i notice that this problem is more heavy at the first execution of dcs and at the first fly with the f/a-18, but i have to verify this with some other test. Tell me if you have the same symptoms, on the other thread, a beta tester from ED reply that they cannot reproduce the problem, maybe if we identify the causes well and send them other logs they can understand the cause. 1 Alex "Match" C. - SPARTAN#033 - 1st Spartacus Fighter Squad - Demon Hornets ______________________________________________________________________________________________ AMD Ryzen 7 5800X - INNO3D RTX3080 - DRAM 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600 Mhz - MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus PSU CORSAIR TXM Series TX750M 750 Watt Semi Modular 80+ Gold
Warsaw Posted September 5, 2023 Author Posted September 5, 2023 Yes i have confirmed it is f-18 radar causing my issues. Turning radar off results in elimination of stutters. Turn f-18 radar on results in stutters. Flappie suggested moving DCS from HDD to SSD and that will be tried once my new SSD arrives this week.
Solution Warsaw Posted September 8, 2023 Author Solution Posted September 8, 2023 Results…. I purchased a Crucial X-8 1tb portable SSD and copied my eagle dynamics folder from my 1tb HDD to the new SSD and changed my shortcut path to the new drive. Jumped in the A-10 to confirm everything looked good and saw an increase in loading speed. I then jumped into the F-18 and left the radar switch on. Stutters were totally eliminated. I then went back and cranked each DCS setting and flew both a/c to see if i saw any degradation. I am happy to report I am now flying both a/c at the highest settings and they both work great with better performance and no stuttering. My conclusion is whatever changed in 2.8, broke the limits on what my HDD could handle. Seems DCS on a SSD should now be a published Eagle Dynamics minimum equipment requirement. Flappie…. thanks for the help and resulting solution! 1
