Ernst Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Hello, according F18c book page 87 and 88 you can use the left or right DDI for an ICLS approach in case of HUD failure ! Is there an explanation why ED uses the waterline as reference i.s.o. Velocityvector for the ILS needles .On a normal approach the decendline is about 3 degrees nosedown of the artificial horizonline in the HUD and the alternate procedure gives about 5 degrees noseup above the artificial horizonline of the EADI ! See attachments.
Tholozor Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 (edited) Try setting the EADI to INS instead of STBY. I've also noticed you have a 'P/INS' advisory; your INS is not being GPS-corrected. Set the INS knob to IFA. Ernst Posted August 24, 2023 Author Posted August 24, 2023 Hello Thanks for your reaction but INS boxed and NAV switch to IFA does not change the presentation of the left DDI. See the screenshot. I think ED took the wrong reference for the EADI procedure in combination with ILS needles.
Tholozor Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 (edited) According to the NATOPS, the ILS needles are referenced to the waterline symbol on the EADI. Also, just out of curiosity, if you're worried about HUD failure, why not use the HUD repeater instead of the EADI?
