everest101 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Trying befor buying is very very important. I allows the customer base to take a decision before commiting to buy....but, I do not have a (so called) smart phone or tablet and cannot configure the 2 factor authentication. Cannot use Google authentication app because do not have a device to d/l it to!!! Why don't you introduce a method to send the code to our email address in our profile...that would solve my problem for Free Trials (we receive the code, enter it on the DCS web page & bingo) . Or, since my email is a Google Gmail account, set up a method to validate authentication via Google Gmail account authentication....simple and it doesn't require a dumb mobile phone! But what is strange is that I have tried out Free Trials not too long ago (a year ago or so) without using Google authentication method....strange. Anyways, what is the work around for this? I have come across trials of some ships which I could not tolerate (won't mention them here to not impact on DCS)...and I did not buy those ships. If I can no longer test the ships before I buy them, well, I will just stop buying!!! I already have to many ships anyways! Thanks for a quick solution... Regards, MOBO/MSI X570-A PRO/PCIe 4. CPU/AMD RYZEN 9 3900X (12 CORE), RAM/DDR4-32 GB (3200MHZ with XMP activated on the MOBO), GPU/EVGA-RTX 3080Ti, HMD/PIMAX Crystal, HOTAS/Thrustmaster Cougar

Regards, You do not need a smart phone, nor tablet, and you can configure 2 factor authenticator. You don't need to use Google Authenticator. I'm assuming you have a Windows PC because you play DCS. If so, check out https://winauth.github.io/winauth/download.html It's free, open source, generic authenticator that can be used with ED/DCS. Simply click the add button, and copy/paste the manual code into this application. My recommendation is to either print and save the manual codes somewhere (so you can use them later if your PC crashes and you lose access), or otherwise setup 2FA on at least 2 separate devices so if one crashes, blows up, is stolen, etc - you still have authentication options on the second device. Edit: It seems that the biggest confusion with all this is that ED's page says "Download Google Authenticator Here". This is giving the uninitiated a wrong impression that Google's authenticator is needed to use 2FA. It's a pitty they've worded it like that, and hopefully they will change their page. However, you don't need Google's authenticator., Any authenticator that supports the algorithm (such as WinAuth) will do the job. Edited September 20, 2023 by Dangerzone 3 2
