MortalMando Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 (edited) hello Black shark pilots, We have recently tested buddy lasing again with the BS3 and came to strange results. What are your experiences recently made? It might be a pilot issue, but it worked before without issues (pre bs3). So what is it - This might hint to a bug? this is what we found out: (Data for testing: 20°C, Syria, laser code 1 & 2, 2x shark - occasionally hopped into a new one) 1. Solo firing and designating a target via the „standby“ mode (laser designator), after range finding, results in a laser time of 56s. This allows a engagement range of approx. 13-14km. The tracking window of the shkval does make firing imprecise from this range though - it can be done. 2. designating a target for another shark cuts down laser time to 43s (after previously range finding) - sometimes the laser cuts out even 10-15s before reaching the original cooldown. I know laser range finding first decreases your laser time, still this might not be working as intended. we have done this multiple times with fresh and hot started helos - coming to the same result. 3. ripple firing kh-25 using one continuous laser does result in crashing one of the missles into the ground. Kappa-131st Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 I have make tests and I agree with you : - Laser range sometime decrease under 60 sec (40 sec) without explaination. It reduce range of shooting for the budy. On this case, laser go to "pause" more quickly than expected. - when trying to make multiples shots, sometime it work well for the two Kh-25, sometime, only one Kh-25 do the job, the second fall. And when we try budylasing with two budy, it work for only one budy... I have try with two KA-50 firing 4 Kh-25. There is alway a fail for one of the two KA-50's misssiles 1
MortalMando Posted April 13, 2024 Author Posted April 13, 2024 Im pretty sure it has something to do with the cooldown on the laser. It would be awesome if there would be some documentation from ED to see exactly how it is intended to be working. Also there is a issue with rippling off 2 Karens. 1 of the missles loses track and hits the ground on a regular basis (I wouldnt say always but very consistently, there was never a situation where both hit the target that I observed). Its a little like looking into a crystal ball never sure what behaviour is intended. 1
