Version 2.00 -- "Hook, Bugfest & Dynamic" - 20240810

The Hook is released, albeit not (yet) on Steam, so I can't test it (and it's therefore not available for CSAR). The sorry functional state of DCS has improved somewhat with the Aug-09 release, and I have added a *lot* of code to catch misbehavior before it get too far. I also added some new functionality for csar (locale info).

Details:

- Some vanity map notes
- Fixes for issues introduced with the July-11 DCS update
- Fixes for issues introduced with the July 22 DCS update
- Added support for new DCS dynamic spawns
- Added LSO and Airboss slots on Roosevelt
- Added support for dynamic player spawns
- You now can disable/enable tower chatter on 250.1 MHz
- Added missing Mig-27 (FC)
- Indicated "FC" for all FC planes
- Cleaned up names
- csar missions provide local references
- Added CH-47F Chinook

Enjoy,

Got my Hook, and was able to also make it CSAR compatible. Now also in Training Grounds.

@cfrag: I get the idea behind the ATC traffic recordings in the mission. Is there any way to move them to a frequency other than the Anderson AFB tower frequency? On the Cold Start mission I could not get a response from the tower for anything (with the exception of after landing I did get the taxi to parking blurb.) It seems like the recording playback has stopped the game's ATC responses on that frequency.

Since the mission is a DML build, this is trivial: there's a trigger zone called "Tower Transmitter 250.1". Open the trigger zone in Mission Editor. Look at the trigger zone's attributes.

To completely disable Ground/Tarmac chatter, place an "x" before the attribute's name "NDB", i.e. change "NDB" to "xNDB". No more chatter (also see the trigger zone "Tower Transmitter 126.2" -- I disabled that one the same way).

To change the transmitting frequency to something else, change the value of the NDB entry from "250.1" to something else (e.g. "123.4"). Now the chatter is audible on that frequency.

OR, ingame go to communications->Mission Options -> AFB Radio Chatter, and choose "Turn OFF ground chatter".

Version 2.10 - Fog Control - 20241206

This update provides support for DCS's new Fog system. Use Communication -> Other to get to the Fog control to get any fog density and remove fog altoghether.

Thanks cfrag for this fantastic and immersive training mission. Last time I played it, I forgot to look for an A-4E client. Is the Scooter available, or how easy is it to add to the mission?

Cheers!

Is the Scooter available,

I did not put any community-mod planes into Marianas (lazy, I know 🙂

That rather depends on how comfortable you are with ME. If you have added aircraft before, I'd say it'll take you about 20 seconds, plus the time required to write the miz back to storage.

"plus the time required to write the miz back to storage."

^^Apologies, I don't understand what you mean by this ^^ Does it have to be compiled in lua?

I can add a plane comfortably in ME, does it need any special group names etc so as not to break any scripts?
Cheers!

It means a failed attempt at humor on my part. Adding the scooter is exceedingly easy.

Version 2.20 -- 20241231 (user-controlled smoke trails)

Sliding in on the final day of 2024, here's Mariana's Proving Grounds with a fun little addition: user controlled smoke trails. Now any pilot can try their hand at writing in the sky in any plane that they like (and own). Have a "nice slide into 2025" as we say in German: "Guten Rutsch!"

Cheers and enjoy,

Version 2.30 - 20250329 - Maintenance update

FOR GOODNESS SAKE, DO NOT USE DCS' NEW "SAVE MISSION" - THAT WILL DESTROY THIS MISSION.

PLEASE DO NOT REPORT BUGS FROM A SAVED MISSION. IF YOU SAVE A MISSION IN DCS, IT IS DCS THAT IS F***ING UP THE MISSION. HARD. DCS'S "SAVE MISSION" FEATURE IS NOT PRODUCTION-READY.

This is no joke. DCS' "Save Mission" feature should not have been released and is not ready to be used. It makes DCS a worse game, a worse experience for the players. Shame on whomever released something of this low quality to their customers. Have you no pride in your work, Sir?
