During a training session today I hoped into an in air jet to do some bombing runs. Went designate some targets with the tpod and could not get it to flash DESIGNATE for the life of me. I double and triple checked I had everything configured correctly, but still no luck. I could designate with the hud and then move it with the tpod in CDES.

I have also experienced this and noticed the area where you can set it to TGT mode is blanked!

"Manual Page 445, Chapter 12.7.3

Special cursor functions in TGP can be used in both cockpit by pressing the PB 7.The
WSO can additionally select them by pressing the PB 7 or by moving the Castle
Switch (see Rear Cockpit HOTAS functions earlier in this chapter). To perform the
special cursor function:

In the front cockpit, TDC should be pressed.
In the rear cockpit, HC Trigger should be pressed to full action.

The possible options are: blank (no function selected), TGT (target), UPDT
(update), CUE and MARK."

You need to be in TGT at PB 7 to designate a target. If it is blank or another mode, press PB 7 until TGT shows above PB 7.

while this thread is a few months old.. I have the issue with Designate not working often. I found if I press any other button, or switch setting before the Designate setting on my HOTAS, it locks me out of Designating and transfer weapons menu. I think it is bugged, but I cannot find which button is causing the issue. But it does seem to be causing others issues with Designating with the TPOD, so I am not alone. IMHO.

I am experiencing the same issue most of the time. It does work for me maybe 25% of the time, and I have not yet figured out what I'm doing differently the times that it does not work.

I had this issue in multicrew and a few times in single player. Both occasions cycling the TPOD from ON > Standby > OFF > Standby > wait once again for it to be ready > ON, fixed the issue.

TDC being pressed did nothing when the issue was present. TGT was set at PB7.
