BFM stick, throttle and rudder schematics

Hello everyone and apologies for this request that, i think, may cross the boundaries of absurd.

I am trying to get deeper in dogfight so i watched tons of very good video tutorials and found some interesting readings about these maneuvers but very often i am shot down by an average skilled AI mig21 pilot. 😩

I saw a lot of pictures like this (font:wikipedia) and a lot of very good video on yt but what i am missing is HOW to achieve these maneuvers. It's my fault i know, i am not a good skilled pilot in dogfights, tbh maybe i am not even a good skilled pilot at all but i think pictures or schematics depicting what position stick throttle and rudder have to keep in order to achieve this and all the others offensive and defensive maneuvers would be very helpful.

Do you know if something like this exist? If so where i can get it?

Thanks a lot to all the pilots here. Their questions, their explanations are a very precious resource.

DISCLAIMER: pls don't get me wrong. All the material in this forum and all the videos on yt are priceless. This post is not for criticism and i hope no one here, especially content creators are offended by this request

Don't worry about the rudder unless you want to make a kill in the 3/4 inverted pass position (for style points).

Read for free from the Navy: Fighter Combat: Tactics and Maneuvering by Shaw. You want chapter 2, which it looks like you've already read; and chapter 4 is what every F-16 nerd should read. It is about 1v1 vs the thrust-to-weight ratio fighter (you) vs low wing-loaded fighters (them).

Also, the MiG-21 is a thrust to weight ratio fighter, all be it a different era, but you're gonna want to read chapter 3 for some tips on dealing with other fighters like the F-16.

The trick to converting knowledge into kills:

You have to want to get the kill. As irrational as it sounds, 99% of the time people jump into a sim 1v1 they end up dancing with the enemy rather than killing them. BFM is basically a dance and if you do it "right" everyone ends up equal.

So BFM when you want the kill is about getting an advantage, and you get an advantage by FEELING it, by wanting the kill. Then you have to take what you KNOW is a risk, using BFM, to increase your advantage.

I posted a really long and specific list of things to do as a Viper pilot in this thread:

And if you have any questions, I DO like talking about how much better the Viper is a dogfighting than anything else! And a lot of other people here do too, don't worry 😀

In my opinion, the problem that most people have is that they forget to maneuver out of plane. Instead of chasing an opponent around the circle for minutes, if you have the energy (which you can often get by maneuvering less aggressively), just take it into the vertical, roll and then you can "cut a corner" to get your nose on, so to speak. Also, if you're in a mission and not explicitly training gun skills, the safest way out is to end the dogfight quickly. One good turn, good tone, Fox 2, bye. And also don't forget you can switch to and fire AMRAAMs in dogfight override mode. I have used that more than once on dragging opponent that was barely in range for a Sidewinder.

...at least in DCS. Although even then, I would add that it depends on the situation when entering a dogfight. The F-16 is good as long as it is fighting a high speed 2 circle fight, it's not that great at anything else.

Thanks @Theodore42 and @Aquorys

I knew this forum is full of kind people willing to help.

I chose Mig21 as opponent because, as you said, it's from a different era and, to my thoughts, quite easier to beat than a, say, Su27 or Mig29.

I read and watched a lot of very interesting stuff. My problem is still how to perform both these defensive and (one day) offensive maneuvers. With many of them i still haven't a clue how to perform them. I guess timing is an essential part but if i can't do them i could be a swiss chrono but i'd still be shot down.

I watched both of 2 part tutorials from Grim Reapers (here's a link to one of them

) and it's good that they explain how to make the maneuver. Of course i tried but the result was far from good, that's why i asked if pictures of hot to move stick existed.

I knew it was a weird question but i wanted to give it a try.

And, as for every other thing, practice is the key.

Thanks a lot guys. You were incredible.

...maybe, when i'll be able to get decent headphones and mic we'll meet in the skies... You'll recognize me very easily. I'll be the sitting duck! 🤣
