Are you familiar with the basic operation of your aircraft, but wish you could learn more?

Do you primarily fly in singleplayer, or solo multiplayer and wish you had a real wingman to back you up in those crucial moments?

Do you want to experience large scale, immersive and dynamic missions with real pilots and controllers?

Do you want to join a group with a casual and friendly atmosphere, but still learn and explore complex, real life tactics and procedures?

Do you want to be part of an active group that gives you opportunities to fly and learn but does not expect you to sacrifice half your free time?

Do you find yourself getting frustrated flying DCS? Often shot down by manpads, don’t see the bandit coming or experience technical difficulties with aircraft systems at the most crucial moments? Do you wish this weren't the case?

If you answer yes to any of the questions above, X51 is probably the right group for you!

Who are we?

We are a medium sized squadron operating primarily in European time zones but with members from across the globe. We offer weekly missions (Mondays 20:00UTC) and weekly training sessions (Wednesdays 20:00 UTC), the latter of which focuses on three main aspects:

  • Increase the enjoyability of DCS through competence, communication and teamwork

  • Minimise common frustrations

  • Supply our members with high quality material based on real life procedures and tactics, purely due to them being ‘tried and tested’ and out of our shared interest of military aviation - This “milsim” aspect does not extend to discipline and relationships and we do not penalize members for not doing everything strictly by the book

What are we looking for?

Someone who:

  • values coordination, communication and teamwork

  • is patient and understanding towards members of different experience and ability levels

  • is mature and not overly competitive with their fellow members

  • is not a stickler for detail or correctness, but is interested in learning and employing some interesting real life tactics and procedures

  • is familiar with the aircraft of their choice, and is reasonably competent its systems*

*We are very much beginner friendly but this point is due to us currently being part way through our training program for the season.

What do we expect from members?
  • To be age 18 or above

  • Have some form of sim setup (throttle and stick, head tracking of VR) - That said if you feel you’re proficient enough without one of these things, you’re just as welcome (and we’re impressed!)

  • Have and want to fly one of the following: F-14, F-15E, F-16, F/A-18

  • Have Syria and/or the Persian Gulf terrains

  • A reasonable level of commitment - we always believe real life comes first, and most of our members and staff have families and busy jobs of their own - we just ask that you can attend the majority of the Wednesday sessions. Even better if you can join most of the Monday missions too!

  • Although we don’t demand 100% attendance, we do ask that when someone cannot attend they notify us beforehand to help with planning and organization. We have a simple discord reaction system for this.

What can you expect from us?

We have two fixed sessions a week - Monday and Wednesday, both at 20:00 UTC (19:00 UTC during European summer time)

Each year is split into an “on” and “off” season. During the on season (September - March) the Wednesday slot is used to run our three phase training program which starts at the very basics and progresses to cover some of the most complex and interesting topics in air combat. Monday slots are used to run an escalating war campaign that roughly follows the training curriculum - allowing our pilots to employ what they’ve learned the previous week as the campaign progresses from border tensions to full out combined arms warfare.

We have airframe specific groups with dedicated instructors for each specific aircraft. All groups train together, but this system allows our members to really sink their teeth into a module and get to know it like the back of their hand. You are free to switch to another module/group in the future if you want to change things up.

During the off season (and around the winter holiday season), both Wednesdays and Mondays are used for running campaigns, standalone missions, extra training sessions for those that want them, external events with other squadrons and any fun event we can come up with. All members are free to suggest and/or organize any event they wish, internal or public and will have the full support of our mission making team, tech support and dedicated servers!

And even when they go terribly wrong due to underestimating the enemy forces…they’re intense and immersive 😀:

We also offer many “non flying activities” for those that are interested:

  • Yearly in-person meetups on the sunny southern coast of Spain with beach BBQs, a private pool and real air experience flights!

  • Mission making workshops

  • Production and filming activities such as for the recent VIAT 2023 X51 aerobatics display! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1999332452?t=11h6m51s

  • And many more…

If you’re interested in joining us, please head on over to our discord server and introduce yourself! https://discord.x51squadron.com

Even if you decide membership is not for you, we run an open discord server with an active public community that you are welcome to be part of. Feel free to join our public events, or hop on comms whenever you see us flying!
