GuntiNDDS Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Hi, i was thinking about making a mission where i have to escort another aircraft from one to another airport. the aircraft would then land on the airport and i would fly back to the first airport to pick up another aircraft for escort. there are two methods to create it: 1. add aircraft(s) as wingman and tell it to follow me through the wingman-voice comands. Problem with this approach: no way to tell wingman to land on the target airport once reached. 2. create aircraft(s) with waypoints to the target airport, with last waypoint being of type "Landing". Problem with this approach: aircraft will fly on its own pace, and i gotta follow it. i would rather be able to be in control of the flight speed myself. Any idea, how to setup that mission in a way that a) the escorted aircraft(s) will land on the target airport and b) they will follow my speeding ? Thanks.
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Set your speed in the mission builder and follow it during the mission. The only way to have the AI follow your speed to a T is if they are your wingman or you set your speed in the mission builder and set the AI to the same thing and then follow it to a T. Better yet, set his speed and you follow him or side by side or such and it will accomplish the same thing. GuntiNDDS Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 hi, yes i know i could set a speed in the mission builder and then follow it in the game. however, i'd like to fly in variable speed in the game, and decide the speed in the game- and want the ai to follow my speed.
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 The only way I am aware to do that is to set him as your wingman. There is no other way that I know of. Let him land with you and give him a command to stay put, if there is such a command. GuntiNDDS Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 hmm. actually how do i add the wingman in the mission editor ? i cannot put him in the same group as myself, and if i put him as a standalone "group", he doesnt respond to me ingame ? thanks.
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 You should be able to add him no problem. Just make him a second helo in your flight as long as it is a helo in the inventory of the country you are flying for. GuntiNDDS Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 well, here's the mission file i created. when i use the com menu to communicate to him (i assume him being wingman 2), i get no response. i have set my datalink id to 1. note: to make him appear, you need to fly into the triggerzone1.Escort1.miz
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 If he appears because of a trigger then he is not your wingman. Your wingman spawns with you and goes with you. You will only have control over a spawning AC by the parameters you set in the mission builder. If you want him to fly at different speeds then set him waypoints with the various speeds you wish and that is a way to control his speed but to have him mimic your speed is impossible unless he is set at your #2 wingie. GuntiNDDS Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 okay, so how do it set him up then ? if i set him in the same group as me, then my helicopter automaticly becomes an ai controlled helicopter too. if i set him in a seperate group, i dont know how to set him to the same runway to start from. also he wont respond to me if i start him in the air. ? thanks.
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Set him as the #2 helo in your flight. Set the #1 helo to PLAYER. That will make a two ship flight with you in the #1 helo and the AI in the #2 helo following your every move and your commands. GuntiNDDS Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 Okay, now i know what the problem is: when i change the helicopter type from ka50 for the wingman to say mi26, it will change "my" helicopter to that type aswell. so it will allways change the type to the same in the whole group. now how do i set it up so that my wingman is flying a different helicopter ? thanks.
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Now that I think about it, that is a short coming of the MB. You can't. I forgot all about that when I told you to do that earlier. You will have to set up a different flight with your AI "wingie" and really micromanage the speeds to each waypoint. Apologies if I mislead you down the wrong path. GuntiNDDS Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 Hi, no i thank you for informing me :) so in other words, in the mb it is not possible to set up a wingman of a different helicopter type. at least not in a way that its possible to communicate with them in the game ? Thanks !
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I believe that to be correct and no one is chiming in calling me and idiot. :) Dusty Rhodes Play HARD, Play FAIR, Play TO WIN Win 7 Professional 64 Bit / Intel i7 4790 Devils Canyon, 4.0 GIG /ASUS Maximus VII Formula Motherboard/ ASUS GTX 1080 8 GB/ 32 Gigs of RAM / Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog / TrackIR 5 / 2 Cougar MFD's / Saitek Combat Pedals/ DSD Button Box FLT-1
