killerquagmire Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Hey guys, I'm really struggling to find a sweet spot between graphic quality and decent frame rates. I have tried different combinations using multithreading openXR, openXR toolkit, oculus tray tool, open composite, and endlessly tweaked graphic settings within the game. I just can't seem to find a happy medium. Seems as though the only way I can achieve anything beyond 35 FPS results in terrible visual quality. I know I'm not rocking an RTX4090, and I don't expect to max out the graphics. However, I feel like my rig should still be more than capable of producing some decent visual quality with playable framerates. I'm hoping someone else out there has a similar setup that can lend some advice or preferably share their VR settings. My complete setup: Asus Gaming z490 plus Tuf mobo Intel i5 10600k OC @ 4.8 ghz Asus RTX 3090 Strix factory OC graphics card 32 gb Corsair 3200 ddr4 ram WD 2TB sn750 SSD 1200 Watt eVGA supernova platinum power supply Quest 3 VR headset
JesterIsDead Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Odd. I have a Q3 with RTX4070 and i get 72 fps most of the time. I use PD of 1 and no oversampling. I use QVFR and playing with MSAA and DLAA. I ca share some exact setting tonight I7-10700F | RTX4070 FE | 32G RAM | Quest 2/3 | TM T16000 HOTAS & Throttle | F/A-18C | F-14A/B | F-15C | A-10 II | F-4E

I have tried DLAA and it looks good but I'm only getting about 35 fps. The ghosting is really annoying but I think I could live with it if I could get some decent fps.
JesterIsDead Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 (edited) here is my system setting. You can even turn down texture to medium for more FPS. I use 72 Hz oculus link. I reduce the FOV to .85 using ODT/OTT. No supersampling (it's at zero). killerquagmire Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 Many thanks. I will give it a shot

JesterIsDead Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Yes, It wont be dynamic. You can adjust the view window I7-10700F | RTX4070 FE | 32G RAM | Quest 2/3 | TM T16000 HOTAS & Throttle | F/A-18C | F-14A/B | F-15C | A-10 II | F-4E

QVFR is made for headsets with eye tracking and Quest 3 doesn't have that. It also comes with a noticeable CPU load and yours is not a powerful one. If I were you I'd use the 'Fixed Foveated Rendering' option that comes with OpenXR Toolkit. It's from the same author. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/

I'm going to do a complete rebuild when the RTX5090 drops. I know that's quite a ways off so I considered upgrading my CPU in the meantime since it's a relatively inexpensive cost of around 300 bucks for an i9 LGA1200 10 core processor. Just don't know if I will see enough gains to justify it.
