Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been reading the forums for a while, but I just finally joined up.

I've been playing sims since F-19, but kind of got out of it for a long time. I think Tornado by Digital Integration was the last sim I really wet my pants over.

Then I read about Black Shark last December. It reawakened the sim-geek. So for the past three months I lived off ramen noodles and water just to save up for a computer to play this.

After spending 3 grand on a computer and peripherals, I'm ready! Except for the fact that my computer won't be here until next week.

Other than that, it's good to be back and it's good find a community.

Welcome back! I hope you will find that you've spent your money well once your rig arrives! May there be countless hours of pure combatsim joy ahead. :)

What's the specification of the new computer and which peripherals did you buy?

Asus Z390-E, 32GB Crucial Ballistix 2400Mhz, Intel i7 9700K 5.0Ghz, Asus GTX1080 8GB, SoundBlaster AE-5, G15, Streamdeck, DSD Flight, TM Warthog, VirPil BRD, MFG Crosswind CAM5, TrackIR 5, KW-908 Jetseat, Win 10 64-bit

However, if pilots would need to do daily what they are capable of doing, nobody would dare to fly anymore.”

Sure I've had to live like a penny pinching hermit for 4 months, but I think it will be worth it. I've done worse for less. HA HA!

Now you need three more monitors, a TripleHead2Go, and start making your own cockpit interface boxes (for ABRIS, the HSI, etc.). I mean, you already spent $3,000. What's another $7,000? ;)

Welcome to the game! I like to tell people it's not a simulation, it's a habit.

Shoot to Kill.

Play to Have Fun.

3000$ just for BS, oh wow. That's why the sims are declining I guess, all those expensive gadgets lying around that you should get, just to experience the sim in it's all glory . . .

Well, some people are better off with a 199$ Xbox and a 60$ copy of HAWX, that's no brainer :D

Well actually, I have a PS3, Xbox360, and a Wii. I love my console games as well as my PC ones.

Then again, I have a Mac AND a PC too.

Basically, I'm a man with diverse tastes.

I agree. I really didn't care much about sims anymore, but when I first heard about DCS: Black Shark, I drooled over it. I jumped at my first chance to buy a boxed version (don't have good enough internet for download). I would have it by now (on Friday, to be precise), but Amazon messed up my order so it won't be here until tomorrow.

Your not much into games are you?:smilewink: By the way..where's your Linux Box?

Seriously though it sounds like a killer rig. Not sure I'd have gone the extreme route because of the price but the i7 should be a very, very nice CPU. I know I'll be looking to update my rig at the end of this year and I expect it will be something in the i7 family although even on my current rig BS runs very nicely.

That sucks. I ordered mine from Amazon as well, and it promptly arrived 3 days later. I order many things from Amazon so I know my number will come soon.

At first I was going to go smaller and not spend quite so much, but I thought about the way PC gaming is and especially sims, so I said screw it, I'll just deal with malnutrition for a few months and go all out.

Then I can use the computer for the next several years while saving up for whatever new thing comes out.
